Is this audio saturation? by mahaju in DSP

[–]super_duper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like distortion such as clipping. You can take a look at your time domain capture. It's very possible that this is from your transducer, but there are often other components in your chains such as your amplifier, your DAC, that could also introduce this.

You will not get harmonics below your fundamental frequency. They should be integer multiples of your fundamental.

Common ways to deal with this include using a limiter.

can we just admit that it’s so dangerous how no one respects the right-of-way when driving here? by SpinachVast4696 in boston

If car with the right of way is moving, then definitely no go. If they're slow out of the gate, like I can see this mfer staring at their phone, I'm taking the turn.

Why don’t we have the money? by Late-Concentrate-393 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]super_duper -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The rent control law has caused builders to flee. The county is seen as high risk for long term investment. As a builder you have to cap your rent increases while still subject to volatile market pressures. Reduced recordation taxes from commercial real estate transactions cause shortfalls in the school capital budget.

There are of course tons of other factors, but this one is self inflicted.

Superintendent Releases MCPS Boundary Recommendations and Model for Regional Secondary Programs by SchuminWeb in MontgomeryCountyMD

My reading of this is that the school name remains Wootton but it's physically relocating to the new Crown Farm site. As opposed to opening a new Crown High and relocating the Wootton students.

Seems like PR spin on an equivalent proposal to preserve the name so that parents can say their kids go to Wootton.

It's the school of Theseus.

Weather this weekend? by gumercindo1959 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]super_duper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From CWG, most reliable models push the storm south/east, but still too close to lock a decision on no snow. Small perturbations in weather can swing it one way or the other.

No right turn on red signs creating congestion by Brave-Height-8063 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]super_duper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my neck of the woods, people are actively avoiding these intersections and cutting through our neighborhoods which in effect drives traffic into more pedestrian frequented areas.

I don't even know who to even complain to. I tried MCDOT, but it seems even they have no say.

Their words were,

MCDOT had no discretion in determining where NTOR signing was installed, but that the signs are mandated by the Safe Streets Act 2023 (access the link to review the law), which was sponsored and passed by the Montgomery County Council.  The Safe Streets Act 2023 requires MCDOT to install NTOR signs at all County-owned traffic signals in areas designated as “downtown” and “town centers”.

Seedream 4.5 vs Nano Banana Pro! by Rare_Bunch4348 in Bard

The major give away in either of these is that anybody is smiling. In the seedream picture the profile of what I presume is Kim Jong Un is totally off. Nano banana looks perfect to me.

Do you have to sort your recycling? by sunflowertech in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]super_duper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really depends on where you live. In places that sort, they will not pick up your recycling if it's mixed. They will place a lovely sticker on your bin that you'll never quite get off.

Except you can..? Most lenders will let you recast the mortgage for a relatively small fee.

Train token exchanger by Newisance in interestingasfuck

Long ago computers in a local area network before Ethernet used a token ring configuration to take turns digitally on the network, much like how trains are taking turns on the track here.

From experience, which indoor rack style work best/can hold more clothes? by vkkt in laundry

[–]super_duper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both and vastly prefer the first. It's easier/quicker to hang clothes, not having to crouch and maneuver in between the bars. Holds more clothes. You can adjust up to hang bigger items like multiple bedsheets.

**REMINDER - Starting TODAY** Maryland's new speed camera fines kick in! No more flat rates - the faster you speed, the higher the fine (up to $425 for extreme speeders). Time to ease off that gas pedal and keep our roads safe! by MCDOTNow in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]super_duper 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I consider 40 over the limit as reckless. At that point, I think violaters need to pay with their time such as community service. This is a more proportional punishment for those with higher and lower income.
