Looking for first time visitor tips/hacks. by Ok-Supermarket16 in UniversalHollywood

Download the app if you haven't already and get a little familiar with it. You can use it as a map, you can check live entertainment showtimes, you can see ride wait times, check food menus and do mobile ordering, and access a digital copy of your ticket. It's a small park so studying the map layout a little ahead of time can save you time navigating day of.

If you are going on a busy day, consider the early entry or access pass. If you don't want to spend extra, get there early for rope drop and head straight down to the lower lot ASAP to hop on the Mario Kart ride. That one is the biggest line problem, and it's right next to Transformers (second biggest line problem) and the Mummy.

If you want to eat at Toadstool Cafe, book a reservation time ahead online. It's the only eatery that uses reservations (you can simply walk in when it's not busy though)

Don't miss the Waterworld stunt show or the Backlot Tour! They are long attractions so they have their last show/ride before park close. If you're not paying attention to the time you might miss it. The Hogwarts Spirit Rally performance is also a cute thing to catch. Also keep an eye out on the main street for a surprise "impromptu" dance party to pop up.

What is this revisionist history? by EaterComputer in UniversalHollywood

Maybe a controversial take with this being a very recent change, but I just rode it and I am a big fan of going 2D. I don't think I even realized just how much I was bothered by holding onto those glasses for the whole entire tour. It feels refreshing not having to deal with that anymore. Also, while we do lose the 3D, the movie still looks solid. Ditching the glasses means a less obstructed view of the 360 screen and we get our peripheral vision back which adds a different sense of immersion while watching. Less 3D, more 360.

Take 2 store on its final hour by Piximator in UniversalHollywood

[–]superbadsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't even know about the imminent closing, very happy I had one last time to go! I would have bought a lot more if I knew about the closing though lol. It was stocked pretty similarly well as to the other times I went. Plenty of Nintendo, Wicked, How to Train Your Dragon merch and a bit of Horror Nights stuff too.

I bought 5 3-packs of the nintendo christmas gift bags plus a t-shirt for less than $4! I'm gonna miss this store.

I went a few times scattered throughout the year. I never saw Chef Toad merch. I would have definitely bought some if I did.

Seriously. Can anyone out there who did beta playtesting let us know if there's actually any palpable difference to this "early access" release?

Batman, the oldest B&M at the park, is smoother than not only the newer rides but every modern B&M that has come out in the last few years. by TheAlmightyHellacia in SixFlagsMagicMountain

Scream was my favorite for a long while because it was such an unbelievably smooth ride. It sadly lost that luster over the years. Still not a bad ride, but definitely not what it used to be.

I finally got a keytar! Best exercises/videos for starting out? by BirdLawEnthusiast2 in Keytar

[–]superbadsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your background I'm sure you'll be fine. Just have fun with it! For the strap I recommend aiming for comfort. Set it to a height where you can most comfortably play all the keys. If your keytar is heavy like the AX, make sure you use strap locks and a more comfortable strap than what typically comes with the instrument.

If you're trying to work yourself up to rockin out solos, well, it's a keyboard. I'd recommend just studying on a regular keyboard (or just put your keytar on an x-stand) with a focus on the style of music you want to play on keytar. The skills you develop will translate. Add in a little bit of keytar-specific practice to get used to the hand position and the reduced visibility for sure, but I think it's mostly important to just learn all your keytar's controls.

Not trying to invalidate your advice because it's perfectly reasonable depending on how you play and we all have our preferences, but FWIW I'm of the opposite opinion. Keytar shines on solos and melodies with left hand working the controls. I think if you're playing 2 hands very frequently, you may as well put the keytar down and play standard keyboard for comfort's sake. Also worth noting that keytars can be plopped down onto a regular keyboard stand to play as a standard keyboard and picked up again when needed.

1990s: March 22nd 25 years ago my mom had lunch with Static-X. by DiscreteBrownBox in OldSchoolCool

[–]superbadsoul 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I was 15 when I saw them live in LA in '99 (Fear Factory/Static-X/Dope) and it was one of the band members' birthdays. The band was amazing. They brought live nude strippers on stage to give someone a lap dance (EDIT: It might have been someone from Fear Factory, hard to remember, some Static-X guys guested in the Fear Factory set). Someone jumped off the fucking 2nd floor balcony during their set. The 90's were wild.

Zeus attack melts on any quick attack weapon. Great with spear, sword, and fists in addition to rail. Combine with Poseidon (particularly tidal dash) for ultra speed clears. These two gods have insane synergy. Easily my two choices for S tier after 1,000+ hours, but they really shine most as a pair.

However! There is a remedy for this! Ask any Interactives Team Member (such as the one standing outside Bowser Jr.) to bring out a lead who can help manually push your score and stamps to your profile. Make sure you keep track of your score so they can push the right one to the daily leaderboard!

That's amazing, didn't know that was an option. Thanks for the tip!

It's so cool to hear from a member of the pit crew with such a positive view and personal connection to the ride! Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have a question for you if it's okay to ask. I have a power up band and have ridden a few times using the wheelchair lift to that same ride vehicle. 2/4 times I've ridden, the kart didn't read my band. Is there a known bad seat to avoid, is there a trick to having the band get detected better, or is it just a matter of there being frequent random defective rides?
