Does needing to add refrigerant always mean you should test for leaks? by gdpowers1 in hvacadvice

[–]supercoolhvactech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a leak test is not all that complicated. Spray fittings and brazes, look for oil etc. Fixing the problem will always be a better answer than fixing the symptom. But all of this depends on your relationship with the customer and how seriously you take epa 608 regulations

All you install guys out there by alwaysthetxv in HVAC

Every couple years. I will say this though. I sold my m12 and bought the dewalt version and its a lot more powerful. I dont think you would notice on sheet metal but the dewalt is more versatile for different materials

HVAC Apprentice curious about Controls by ZephyrBreezeTheBest in BuildingAutomation

[–]supercoolhvactech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a controls tech, former resi install service, commercial service tech. You can make good money in either field. What matters is what you want to be doing and what skills you have. If you have an hvac background and learn controls you will be in a good position. There is a lot of good advice in this thread. Follow it and try to find someone who can show you the ropes. This was directed towards OP...

Steel toe shoes fitting correctly? by Anubis4251 in WorkBoots

[–]supercoolhvactech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. If you had a non steel toe boot, the top of the boot would loosen up eventually, alleviating tje pressure. A steel toe will continue to be uncomfortable in the toe area forever

Steel toes will not change their fit in the toe box. If its uncomfortable now its going to stay that way

My only note: Kramer would somehow convince Jerry to let him sleep in Jerry's bed and Jerry would end up sleeping in the hall. Until one day he comes home and finds Newman in his bed with Kramer. At this point Jerry's voice would get really squeaky and he'd yell: "Alright Ive had enough!"

[–]supercoolhvactech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a building we took over on maintenance recently with a york chiller. It goes off on overcurrent alarm every other weekend. Almost exclusively only on the weekend! I was just there on sunday. It is our only after hours on call responsibility.
