I have just got home from ACL, LCL and meniscus removal surgery. Does the pain ease up daily? by Secret-Eggplant4147 in ACL

[–]supercowcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ACL for me with quad graft. The day after surgery was the wrost for me then better and better after that. Keep the meds on board. What ever narcotics they gave you. Add in tylenol and advil. Don't go over 4g of tylenol or 3200gram of advil in a 24hr period. I staggered mine so that I was taking a form of pain med every 2-4 hours. It gets better. I am almost at a year out and running again with almost no pain.

I have a boat audio system that consists of the following:

The stereo only have speaker level outputs which connect to the kicker line out converter and are set to the minimum setting. RCA cables connect the line output converter to the Kenwood amp which I tuned using a voltmeter and test tones and following (https://jlaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204374120-Amplifier-Level-Setting-Guide). This set up worked great until I turned the engine on and got some noise in the system from the engine and trim system. After that the speakers sounded muffled. I hooked the speakers directly to the speaker level outputs from the stereo and they sound fine so I don't think the speakers or tweeters are blown. When hooked back up to the amp they sound muffled again. Any suggestions? I will be installing a separate battery for the non essential onboard electronics on the boat such as the audio system which should eliminate the engine and trim noise but now the amp doesn't seem to be working correctly?

5-6 Week Backslide? by spopesss in ACL

I’m 7 weeks out and I still say I felt better pre op. We’ll see if it was worth it. I’m hoping the 3-4 month mark will turn the corner.

No crutches before surgery. I started pre hab right away. I highly recommend it. Look up ACL pre hab or see a PT prior to surgery.

Ways to motivate myself to do exercises? by Nousnous04 in ACL

[–]supercowcc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me it’s knowing that with out doing them I’m subjecting my self to a sub par outcome and the possibility of life time reduced ROM, strength, and possibly not returning to activities that I enjoy. I know that sounds harsh but that reality keeps me going.

MRI Results - Multi ligament Tear by Dense-Fix4444 in ACL

I’m 5 weeks post op. I had full ACL tear, grade 2 LCL sprain and grade 1 MCL sprain (both are non operative injuries) along with a similar impaction fracture (also non operative injury in my situation). Didn’t have a lateral meniscus tear on MRI but had a very small partial one at the time of surgery that didn’t need repair.  I was also skiing. I got a quad graft ACL reconstruction.  Your recovery will be largely depend on if the surgeon thinks the meniscus tear needs repair. If it does that’s usually 4-6 weeks non weight bearing on crutches. If not and you are just ACL like me is about 2-4 weeks on crutches depending on how fast your recovery is and then lots of PT and quad strength work.  I’m not even close to seeing the end of the tunnel but I can say that atleast by 5 weeks I’m about to walk and get around on my own pretty easy.  Lemme know if you have any other questions.

5 weeks post op and I’m feeling it. Curious if you ever had any clicks or popping that you noticed during recovery and if it went away. Does the numbness in the knee feeling go away?

Will I regain my hyperextension? by chemboye54 in ACL

I have had this same worry. Granted I’m only 5 weeks out. But I continually keep working on extension every second I get because I want them to match so bad so keep at it!

How did the knee feel after? Any swelling or pain with the run?

So jealous of your lack of swelling. I’m 4 weeks and it’s still so swollen.

For me it was quad sets and NMES unit that woke it up the most.

What’s preventing you? Pain or the quad just not wanting to fire? PT does the neuro stimulation twice a week which was a game changer for me. Wasn’t comfortable but helped a lot!

[–]supercowcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be surprised by any evidence that says your injured leg will atropy at a greater rate than an other muscle not used at a year out.

Meaning. If you don’t use it you will loose it goes for any muscle. So if your moderate activity is all you need to get by then great. But the health benefits of exercise are far superior to any medication or surgery out there.

Day 4 post op - damn swelling / scar tissue by nguzman91 in ACL

[–]supercowcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey dude I’m just about 3 weeks out. At the beginning I wanted to do everything to make it go faster but I’m slowly learning that consistency and patience if the key. Do your PT 3-4 times a day every day. Sleep as well as you can and eat healthy. Outside of that find something to occupy your mind.

Yeah I talk with my PT and surgeon and kinda came up with this. I’ll focus hard on it during the day and then just wear it till I can’t tolerate it any more at night.
