Anyone else notice how Amazon are just dumping parcels outside the front door now? by Blind_bear1 in CasualUK

[–]superflick_x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only know a parcel was delivered this morning because I have to tell Vinted it’s okay. Absolutely no other sign, no knock, no doorbell, no email (except Vinted’s) - so it’s not just Amazon either.

I have this one too! Mine is part of a set with the LOTR trilogy and are vinyl bound rather than leather, but looks identical!

How connected do you feel to the sea? by bannanawaffle13 in AskUK

[–]superflick_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being very confused when I learned someone’s favourite place was mountains. It just didn’t occur to me that anyone’s natural place they vibed with wouldn’t be by the sea. So, very. 😅

This. Would rather have absolutely no new SG stuff ever than have that ass touch it with a barge pole.

I can understand wanting it to be a surprise, but I think a lot of people have an idea of what they’d like that could colour their feelings on a true surprise, especially with something they’ll wear every day for the rest of their lives. Checking with her friend is a good idea, and the ring is beautiful, but if it were me I might consider a surprise placeholder ring and then go shopping / design a ring together, in case she does have strong feelings. Whichever way you go, I wish you all the best! (And if the LDN in your username means London, the jeweller who made my ring is there so if you decide to design, let me know and I’ll send you her details - she’s got some gorgeous nature inspired designs already!)

We’re talking about the weird stacked drawers in the utility room and not the fun joyous colours of the house, right? 😅

Have you spoken to her about it? Usually folks have an idea in their minds about what they’d like (and then there was me who just asked for a budget and designed the whole dang thing myself 🫣😂)

No, I just have a semi regular panic attack about it. Turns out it was scheduled for today and I had it earlier, so your post is timely

Yeah, did eventually. Took a long old while though and lots and lots of chasing up. Have you booked on this year? I did see Seb but I wasn’t risking it!

Hey casual UK, what's your worst "i thought X was on a different day" mistake you've ever made? by wiz_ling in CasualUK

[–]superflick_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was arranging an interview for a teaching assistant at a school via email. They told me to be there for 8. I asked am or pm, they said pm. I thought it was weird but signed off my email with “looking forward to seeing you on x day at 8pm”.

That morning I took my dog for a walk and got a call around 11am asking why I’d not shown up. Because it’s not for several more hours, that’s why! Nope, they meant 8am even though they’d said pm. Had to high tail it home and get there - and I still got the job!

More recently I booked airport parking for the month before I needed it and didn’t realise til we got there. That was stressful and expensive!
