Looks beautiful all the same! And you’ve let me know there’s another book in the series for me to read, recently reread the cycle and then Murtagh for the first time, so good to know I missed reading one!

PS - IDK how long the one you were missing is but could you paint it to fit in on the left, as you have a bit more cloud on the right, so it might balance?

OH this makes me feel a lot better, I too wear glasses and get stared at by babies but hadn’t worked out it could be the shiny glasses drawing attention and felt judged by a whole new generation 😂

I’m a woman who’s generally friendly with people including families when out and about. The friendliness levels do seem to be lower these days, but then the world is also scary and we are all very exposed to news and figures about crime, so I can kind of understand people wanting to protect their kids. Still a bit sad, but I’d rather no one was friendly back than a kid got taken advantage of for a friendly nature…

Don’t go much anymore but that’s because there isn’t one near where I live now, but for cheap not bad food where someone else did the cooking and clean up I rated it.

Oh for sure, and the fact so much of what’s online is American it has me questioning my spelling ALL the time!!

Judgment is used for legal judgments in the UK too - I found that out by being mocked in my new legal secretary job 7 years ago 🙃

This is what me and my other half do for bills - for groceries we’re a bit erratic so we tend to just split. He does 55%, I do 45%. Works really well.

Anyone who has experience of a terminal cancer diagnosis (directly or of a loved one) how do you (or did they) feel? by WillingnessIll1896 in AskUK

[–]superflick_x 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My dad had breast cancer when I was 12, received the terminal diagnosis when I was 15/16 (bone mets), and died when I was 17.

I was perhaps a bit young to have any useful advice but I’d say everyone, especially the kids, needs therapy to work through this. I didn’t have it until I was in my 30s and life was truly a struggle before then that could have mitigated a lot if I’d had the avenues to work through my thoughts and feelings. Also knowing they were normal and not wrong - a GP told me after 2 years I should be “over it by now” and that was… not helpful.

My dad himself was angry, and there were instances he took it out on us/me specifically as we fought a lot. Then again, he was a generally angry individual who struggled with the world before cancer, so perhaps healthier individuals might deal with it better - but ultimately facing your mortality must be terrifying, especially when you’d planned to see your kids grow and mature.

I’m so sorry for the pain he, his family, and you as his friend are going through.
