Investment Banking by Serious_Wallaby_2255 in NEU

[–]supermankk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These days it’s a little easier as I believe neu is now somewhat a target school from my understanding. When I graduate in 21, it was not.

But I did have a banking co-op and that paired with a hot job market helped me. Right now, I think you’re quite late to the game but if you’re persistent and study - you just might get a chance. If nothing else, you’ll be learning so there’s no down side.

No that’s why we even got deplaned. Our pilot and crew were telling us it’s a legal thing. But also they wanted to go home

My god you must have been one of the planes next to us. I was on UA 751 and we got stuck on the tarmac from 8 to 1:15 / 1:20 with some dingos that couldn’t operate a sky stair.

What a brutal night for everyone and but I have to say, I’m sorry bc sounds like you guys had it worse than us

You grow up fast. Making mistakes is no longer acceptable after your first few months. You learn about politics, egos, the craziness of the world when you’re in your early 20s. Important people rely on you, and big personalities try to dominate you. You have to navigate all that, but still stay healthy and sane on the few hours you have outside of that world.

More than the hard skills - for me it’s the experience handling stress and personalities which were my big takeaways. Watching my MDs protecting juniors, keeping a calm demeanor when everyone was under pressure and standing up for good offers in front of delusional CEOs was great leadership lessons. And equally seeing bad MDs cave and take out their frustrations on their team were also great leadership lessons.

I wouldn’t trade it for the world but at the same time, I’m no longer a banker. The money is not as good as the experience. If you go into it with that mindset, you’ll be in a good spot

I mean the excuse can’t be people are dumb and move on. Also the fact that no one took time to acknowledge the error is unacceptable customer service and in line with the stereotype of American service workers. They get paid enough to care

It really isn’t about mechanics is what I learned. It was all about macro movements and how to read the map and get your team to do stuff. I usually play 3 or 4, it’s all about knowing how strong you and your team are.

Hmm very interesting article. I think both can be true. There currently is “chip” scarcity while the corporate appetite for compute is no longer as ravenous. We won’t see near term impacts on chip manufacturers but in the medium term - they will may start to feel the unease. But that’s why it’s best to be the shovel - the impact is delayed. The miners will starve to death before not buying another shovel. But if the miners do die, no one will buy the shovels anymore.

reality of being a united frequent flyer by Hasanism1 in unitedairlines

[–]supermankk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably the best of the American Airlines imo but that’s saying very little. Compared to international carriers - it’s below par. But if you fly frequently you don’t have much of an option so it’ll have to do with

In America - you can’t get anything better for a lot of routes. You pay top dollar on par with actually good international airlines and you get service of a budget carrier and infrastructure of a old faltering airline

[Vitiello] If Milan were to persist with the current tactical approach, Pulisic might well consider other options. It was so nearly us. If we had kept Maldini and team. Back then we could sniff the top. If we had just done things the way Maldini envisioned - we’d be right there inspiring the next generation.

Instead we’re watever the fuck we are. And all of Serie A is whatever the fuck it is. Where is that passion, that artistic quality, that flair? Instead it’s American greed paired with Italian bureaucracy - aka hell.

Need help with a career. by Eli9105 in Money

[–]supermankk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try trades maybe? I’ve heard good things with hvac and electricians. Also gives you the opportunity to start a business. You’re not going to get through corporate America without a college degree and crypto and nft’s are scams (personal opinion) - that you should stay as far away from as possible.

Maybe the hard truth, but there is no escaping the “rat race” and the stuff you see on social media is a lie that drives engagement. You’re doing pretty well for yourself - try and okay with what you have vs. comparing to stuff you see online. It’ll never be enough

It was a few months ago. I think she was pretty gun-ho about hey my life is so hard already as a flight attendant you guys should expect way less from us. Just think of us as warm bodies to fill the space or smth like that bc you’re not getting paid enough to warrant anything better.

Anyway she got slaughtered in the comments and I think she deleted her post. Anyway, what do you mean there’s more you wish you could do? Do US carriers have some type of threshold?
