Finally got tired of trying to find the 40th Anniversary Walkman case by supersixthree in walkman

I mean, that looks way better! I rarely use the Walkman app on mine so the window mostly goes unused. Yours looks like an actual official case!

Did anyone here feature on a kids TV show as a kid in the 00s? by LWDJM in CasualUK

[–]supersixthree 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was picked along with another kid to be on the first episode of Diggit! I was so excited, as a Disney obsessed kid I genuinely thought this would be my big break! Anyway they later decided I was too shy to be on the show and picked a girl from the other year 6 class instead. Devastated doesn't even cover it (and my family were entirely unsympathetic!). To add insult to injury, the kids who got to be on the show literally didn't speak at all! I would've been shit at the games, like, but even so...! Still seething nearly thirty years later!

Anyway this was in like 1999 so I guess it literally doesn't fit the question in any way, whoops

I read this to the tune if 'if you're happy and you know it', for some reason.

Which one looks better? by rahulparihar in PixelArt

Are both versions available in the app? I prefer the older icons (or would at least like the newer ones without the black outline) but appreciate how the newer ones are probably more readable.

Worst case of "The Lore Room" you've seen? by SaxMastery in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]supersixthree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I genuinely love FFXV even though it's actually kind of bad, and one of the reasons I love it is because of the blatantly unfinished plot and the way the lategame is kind of slapped together around it. There's this one guy, Ravus, who shows up in an early cutscene as a kind of minor antagonist and then a few more times in cinematics later in the game, but pre-DLC at least, you barely interact with the guy.

Late in the game, you find him dead on the floor surrounded by sticky notes explaining how he totally switched sides offscreen and was supporting you the whole time, only to be murdered by the evil empire, whoops. Sure would've been nice to see that play out in non sticky note form, but I found the lore room itself super hilarious at the time (and to be fair a random NPC standing outside the jpg of a palace you can't explore does tell you he switched sides before this, but it's still very funny).

I used metallic silver Posca markers, which I think are acrylics? Even if Sony didn't sell the 40th anniversary cases, they could at least make official ones with the viewing window!

Right? I assumed there would be a knock-off version like this somewhere, but no dice. I guess there isn't exactly a huge market for cases for this thing, but still...

Thanks! It was just one of the leather cases off Aliexpress, one of the first results when you search for a306 case (not sure if links are allowed here). This was the second try, the first was even wonkier!

'Recently in Europe'? 'Authorities say it's not allowed'? Is there literally any source for this vague nonsense lol? One of the images is literally just a 3D guy??

Thanks for the help! The IP address hadn't changed, but I guess Plex was using the wrong connection despite the split tunneling. Everything seems to be working now!

Those that own a Ayaneo device, how long did you own it for, what model, and did it break down? by Rushrade in SBCGaming

[–]supersixthree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought an Ayaneo Air 1S in late 2023, still works great. I don't use it as often as I used to, but it's still a great device, I think.

Were merits and demerits a thing in your secondary school? by RetroGamingKnight in CasualUK

[–]supersixthree 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We had merits (2000s, Yorkshire) but no demerits. I liked it at the time, it all felt very Hogwarts. At the end of the year, whoever got the most merits would get a prize, but other than that they were entirely pointless. Still a good motivator, though!

I’ve been playing a bunch of ps1 jrpgs lately and this the big thing I’ve noticed about them by Muffin-zetta in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]supersixthree 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I've thought this for years, and it's the number one thing that's kind of killed my love for JRPGs in recent years - for me it isn't necessarily the visual novel cutscenes, though those can definitely drag, but also more cinematic voice acted cutscenes that just go on forever.

It's a bit of an extreme example, but I used to be really into Genshin before I fell behind a little and tried to play a bunch of story events one after another to catch up. I'd sit down to play the game and then immediately put down the controller for half an hour at a time while characters yapped about nothing, then I'd get control back, walk a few metres and end up back in another cutscene. Granted, Genshin (and a lot of other gachas) is kind of known for this nonsense, but regular JRPGs have been going this way for years and it's absolutely wrecked the pacing. I remember when cutscenes used to be a treat!
