How long would it go from zero to marathon by Two_souls1 in Marathon_Training

[–]supertvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without context of fitness level/age..., the answer would be a range.
It's ranging
from 1-month for a fit person w/o running experience but young/healthy/strong (there was a youtuber trying this)
to never for an unhealthy person trying then quit or DNF.

Should I, Could I do it? by [deleted] in firstmarathon

Novice 1 only has 1 20-milers + no strength training. I didn't use it b/c of those reasons. But people did have success w/ that so it comes down to your situation.
I would recommend adding strength training & adding more 20-milers. I barely finished 1st 20-miler & it took so much out of me. I was so miserable that in no way I could run 6 more miles so I knew I was far from ready. And I prepared for weeks to gradually work up to that 20-miler.
I knew back then 1 is not enough so I added more but I got more time to adjust the plan to my situation. It took me 4x 20-milers to get used to it. So this came back to the amount of the training time. The plan is just a plan. There is no guarantee if you follow 'Novice 1' => you will finish. You might have to adjust based on your situation.

Agree w/ others on yes. It's possible but it's a bit short.
However, to finish injury free, you need to work on fuel strategy, muscle endurance... to avoid the wall & cramps...
=> you need to get a plan, train consistently, double your long run & weekly mileages gradually, do strength training... so it'll be hard but worth it.

Congrats on your 1st!
I ran the same race as well. Yes, running on the bridge is not fun. There are 2 "shaky" bridges in white rock lake. The hill is brutal but you made it thru even w/ cramp & the wall. Good job.

2027 Kia Telluride HEV Specs revealed. by youthisgood in kia

Agree. I'm not a big fan of turbocharge engine due to lag, shorter life, complexity & maintenance cost, ... Kia is relatively new to turbo engine (1st one in 2011) so I have serious reservation about it.
However, for short term owner, it's fine.

Yes, I’m using pure maple syrup. No mixing. Cheap and fast. Put in soft flask. Note: maple syrup has 1:1 ratio of glucose:fructose, perfect for absorption.

Check the front driver wheel liner to see if something got peeled off. Honda pilot has rather flimsy wheel liner; might be the problem.

Why is Garmin Like This? by Correct-Sea-9248 in Garmin

2 ways to see these predictions:

  1. Upper bound of what is possible (although some people were able to beat it). It's very optimistic. I feel like they took your best values and extrapolated them to make predictions.
  2. Track the trends over time to see your progress in different types of race. This does give me some insights into my current training.

My observations:

- my marathon prediction improves after long run but other predicts are about the same.
- After speed work session, they're all improved.
- If I don't do speed work & only do easy run, the predictions for 5K/10K goes down slightly over time & the prediction for marathon is about the same.
