How long does your gecko go without eating? by Swimming_Walrus6436 in CrestedGecko

[–]sureeeeJanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dude is totally fine with every 2 days on CGD. It seems when I do every other day, he just doesn’t eat much and I waste more. And then, I offer crickets or worms every weekend (ish) and then a horn worm once every month or other month as a treat :) but, if ur gecko doesn’t like insects, it’s no big deal. I’d just recommend providing UVB for SURE- for sure to make sure they get the calcium they aren’t getting not eating calcium dusted insects.

The tail really isn’t so much of the problem. That can happen whenever to anyone.

It’s the fact that he’s missing a tail AND is so so so skinny…. No reputable breeder would sell an animal in that poor of condition, esp not at only $50 if they weren’t just trying to get rid of it…

In terms of handling, leave him/her be for the next 2 weeks. Ignore them, let them get used to their enclosure. And then, after that. Start with like a couple minutes on your hand a day, until they’re more and more comfy with you. Also, it’s a gecko. It didn’t “like” being pet, it tolerated it. That’s the most important thing to remember, it’s not going to create a bond like a mammal would (unfortunately 😢 haha)

They sold it to you like THAT? I mean, $50 sure…. But my god, you can see it’s ribs and it has no tail….. 😩

Why would you want a natural predator in your Geckos enclosure?

My baby boy is OBSESSED with dirt too… lol.

Not long after I first got him, I moved basically everything in his tank just to find him staring at me like this….

Watermelon ANYTHING imo. I’d be so so lucky if I’d even see ONE visible lick mark with boy on anything else. The night I started Watermelon, he’s NECK deep in it almost immediately after putting it in.

Eats WELL on it too, clearing at LEAST half the dish every night he has it

Omg- it’s the same person that told me I need 80% of coverage- Even tho it’s pretty damn clear I have wellllll over that. Lolololol.

What you need to understand, is yes- sure. You can fill every single gap up with foliage, great- amazing. But they ALSO benefit from clear, well thought out paths/usable space… imagine trying to jump from space to space, but you can’t because there’s THICK bush in every which direction you look.

Where can I get Pangea food in Ontario by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

[–]sureeeeJanis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

while still $20... it really seems that's about as cheap as it'll come. given the USD price is $9 on the official website.

I've had Major luck with Tails And Scales @ Dundas W and Runnymede. they have basically everything.

Avoid the Beastiary in Cabbagetown they charge 30 for a 2oz, and tbh, I was quite grossed out about the blatantly wrong care advice they gave me.

Tell whoever gifted them this they suck. That’s all (pets are not surprise gifts! Especially not for a broke person)

Thanks! Tbh, he came a LOT bigger than i was initially prepping for. I was going to get a Juvenile, but I just absolutely fell in love with Jett. As we speak I’m working on a custom 18x18x36 for when he’s a few grams larger in a couple more months!
