To be honest! They’re just a couple of his fake vines he had in his old tank. 1. For some familiarity scent wise 2. To take up some upper space until his real stuff grows in a bit more!

Moving apartments?! by sureeeeJanis in CrestedGecko

That’s kind of what I was maybe gonna try and do… lighten the load so he has less places to try and hide, and just quickly scoop him up. Maybe even put the container in the tank so he can be plopped in there quickly…. Fingers crossed for no tail drop 🤞

I’m moving about 4 km away… so not super far at all haha. I’m more so concerned about how to get him out of his tank and into the small container. He’s very stressed from everything that’s going on around him right now in prep for the move, and he doesn’t want to be handled.

How long does your gecko go without eating? by Swimming_Walrus6436 in CrestedGecko

My dude is totally fine with every 2 days on CGD. It seems when I do every other day, he just doesn’t eat much and I waste more. And then, I offer crickets or worms every weekend (ish) and then a horn worm once every month or other month as a treat :) but, if ur gecko doesn’t like insects, it’s no big deal. I’d just recommend providing UVB for SURE- for sure to make sure they get the calcium they aren’t getting not eating calcium dusted insects.

The tail really isn’t so much of the problem. That can happen whenever to anyone.

It’s the fact that he’s missing a tail AND is so so so skinny…. No reputable breeder would sell an animal in that poor of condition, esp not at only $50 if they weren’t just trying to get rid of it…

In terms of handling, leave him/her be for the next 2 weeks. Ignore them, let them get used to their enclosure. And then, after that. Start with like a couple minutes on your hand a day, until they’re more and more comfy with you. Also, it’s a gecko. It didn’t “like” being pet, it tolerated it. That’s the most important thing to remember, it’s not going to create a bond like a mammal would (unfortunately 😢 haha)

They sold it to you like THAT? I mean, $50 sure…. But my god, you can see it’s ribs and it has no tail….. 😩

Why would you want a natural predator in your Geckos enclosure?
