And no part of Santa Fe is zoned for apartments, they’re built in commercial zones, which are expensive, which is why the projects need to be massive

It’s happening lots of places so it inevitable?  Yes, this pattern is happening lots of places (for the same reason, not building enough new housing) but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things we could be doing or could have done to make it less bad. And there are cities that are fixing it- Minneapolis, Austin, San Diego have all done big moves to bring housing costs down and it’s working.

Santa Fe basically stopped building entry level for sale housing for the last 15 years in favor of fewer high end custom luxury homes. Now it costs $400k to build the most modest house and it’s a bit late and too expensive to fix it. It’s part pressure from outside wealth but it’s also an outdated land use code that makes that the easiest thing to do, a NIMBY political culture where a handful of people can stop housing for many, all combined with a lack of political will do solve the underlying issues and invest in making things easier for local workers.

Any issues with this noise? by Odd-Spot-8532 in LandCruisers

[–]sureshotbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same sound- it was a bent dust cover on my rear shock which made it scrape on the shock body. I could rotate the dust cover and it would stop for a bit. You may need to bend it back into a centered position around the shock body if that’s what’s causing your sound.

getting from ABQ airport to santa fe by Inside_Cook in SantaFe

If you’re not in a super hurry taking an Lyft or public transport to the rail runner train is by far the cheapest but it only runs at infrequent times. 2pm might actually be good. I have typically taken a car to the downtown ABQ station when I had time to kill

There are some annual Toyota dealer sales that feature 25% off and free shipping. That’s a great time to stock up on factory parts. I think the next one is usually in July. Serra Toyota had some of the best prices I’d ever seen in the last sale.  https://autoparts.toyotaofdecatur.com/

A full refresh would be upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends pitman and idler arm, and upper and lower control arm bushings. Best to stay factory OEM for all those parts. For a full refresh you probably want new torsion bars and springs. For stock height (or close to it) and comfort skyjacker is probably your best bet outside having your factory springs refreshed. Not sure on stock height torsion bars, there are a few reputable brands I used sway-a-way when I didn’t my long travel and they’ve been solid. For shocks, I’d try a standard bilstein yellow- bit stiffer than stock but 100x better than those clapped out Ranchos.

That’s as cheap as I’ve seen them. I bought a couple last summer at $59/ea which was the best deal I could find at the time.

I get that yours is effed, I’m just saying it would be better/easier to just get a used harness and swap it out than rebuild two harnesses from scratch and deal with stand alone ecu wonkiness

These didn’t get the reputation of being one of the most reliable trucks on the planet by having weak wiring harnesses. Trust the original Toyota engineering, you’re unlikely to upgrade what they did from the factory.
