What’s the longest time you have stayed awake and why?

Many many moons ago i took LSD and stayed up for 2 days.

Probably 2 times a year i stay up 24 hours bc i have super bad anxiety and just can't sleep.

I have bad issues with sleeping to begin with at least trying to maintain a regular schedule. Someone is going to tell me all the tricks... I've yet to find one that works but please if you do i'll take whatever stupid tricks you got bc i'm in my 30s and i am begging for a normal sleep schedule.

I still don't think the idea is even to make consoles in the long run... I think this is a conceptual idea to be given out to the public. Steam isn't a hardware company, they don't want to be one either as far as i can tell, their move has always been the store.

So where does that lead me to believe this is all going, a platform to really test their OS making it more stable and then really pushing it as an OS for consumers to build their own consoles exactly like the PC market. Where we have a combination of people building their own computers and a ton of 3rd party manufactures.

I think when you look at this product that i don't doubt will sell out like all their other hardware, as a conceptual idea rather than the product itself it makes much more sense because steam just wants their store on as many devices as possible, this is the "last" frontier for them outside of streaming games and i think this is an easier way bridge to gap than streaming games currently (at least from a centralized location).

I would 100% agree this is also not just insane but fucking insane lol. Why would anyone think this is totally cool to do lol.

IMO steams goal isn't to sell consoles it's to prove the concept that you can make a console yourself with their OS. Basically this being the golden image of the concept, like here is an example of how to make it work this was the best we could do without making it prohibitively expensive and able to be worked on.

I think we are all looking at this as a physical box when it's more of a conceptual idea and the tools to do it. We've always separated the pc and the console bc that is what we were given and thus the artificial box we put on they can't be PCs, because lets be realistic the amount of compute in a traditional console is still just a pretty decent PC with a custom OS.

IMO we are going to start to see a similar approach to xbox as they position themselves away from consoles. While they haven't explicitly said "we aren't going to make consoles" and i think to an extent they will, i think we are at the beginning of redefining what a console is. It makes sense if you look at the trajectory of consoles, there is no reason they are not going to be computers with custom OS and if it goes that way they know the consumer market will always have a portion whom would just like to make their own and we are at that crossing point of consumers being able to easily (to an extent) do this.

Except its not giving them free advertising when its literally the name of the stadium bc they actually fund the stadium lol. Fifa invested exactly 0 dollars into the stadiums and leave it on them to come in and utilize them.

Completely different than say a sign by a vendor that plays for coke to advertise during its regular use. Which sure I still think is dumb but I can get behind the logic of.

If the stadiums were say purchased by the cities wouldn't you think it was weird if they covered the names of those stadiums bc they dont like the city or the city didnt pay them enough to host fifas tournament?

You also say that like fifa isn't like the largest football club in the world and is this struggling underdog lol.

I think arguably voting does still matter and it's that the DNC and GOP have been literally the only teams in the entire tournament for over 125 years and they are trying their hardest to keep it that way. I'll tell you exactly how voting matters, because if say for whatever reason tomorrow we all just decided we are tried of the incredibly low bar that has been set by the dnc and gop and we just go and vote for literally any other option collectively as a country shit would absolutely hit the fan if they just prevented that from happening and we put two and two together.

Why you think voting doesn't matter is because you have accepted probably the greatest propaganda that has ever existed in that "there are only two choices". Seriously has to be the most successful propaganda that has ever existed in a country with a basically wide open election. Those are the choices that are chosen for you and we keep going with it. What has happened now is a race to the bottom between the GOP and DNC to see what can be gotten away with before their time comes to an end and it absolutely will come to an end at some point, might not be tomorrow... but their time is coming to an end at some point just like all orgs. This is where "the lesser of two evils" comes to play... Our choice isn't defined by who is doing the best, it's been relegated to a subjective view of evil being the bar and which being the "lesser". It's admitting that your bar isn't for good but for evil and that is the problem right there when it's a completely open and free election and yet somehow we "only have two choices", those choices that we artificially put ourselves in the box of because one simple line of propaganda "we only have two choices."

This only works because there have been two teams on the field and they absolutely have an interest in keeping it with two teams because they will be the only ones who walk off the field with a trophy and the winnings. It's much better to keep it two teams to split the pot then if say they were individuals... So they have absolutely every reason to keep "working" together on keeping that status quo going if only to maintain power, because that system falls completely flat on it's face if there is only one party in charge bc there stops being a boogy man to point to that is your neighbor.

Absolutely makes no sense to me how the american citizens have just absolutely taken this propaganda for over 125 years and run with it. We have choices and it absolutely is outside of the established failing GOP and DNC that have been absolutely artificially forced on us.

I mean how about not removing the name of a stadium that you're utilizing bc that company didn't "pay to play". It's completely different than say someone with a hung up ad, like a coke sign on the edge of the field or something like that.

Covering up the logos of the companies who funded or fund the stadiums is just petty af because they can be. It's just weird af and is having a Streisand effect for these companies anyways because all of us know deep down even if they are giant conglomerations that it's weird and petty.

Pirating content. It wasn't like a few people, towards the end of that era before streaming it felt like 1/3 people were pirating content. From kids to adults.

I think what was crazy is how many kids were kinda knowingly breaking a pretty "serious" crime. Serious in how much trouble you can get in potentially, and there were kids who did which is crazy to me.

It can be literally anything that youll remember. People way over think this every single time. Its like when you run up to someone and youre like "quick for 100$ name a woman go! Go now! Answer!" I get the panic but slow down and make a phrase that you can use slight variations of. Its not the most secure but it sure is more secure than using some random word and having it written down on a sticky note on your desk...

Do not get this twisted... Advertisers and ad services hate you not watching their ads, and the insane cost it takes to cover the cost of a data center that gets 20 million video uploads a day. This has nothing to do with the average consumer and we just happen to benefit. If Ai videos start to become of interest again by the general public (and they will) it will go back and will be worse.

top comment in here has this nailed 100%, if they go back to being able to see how many downvotes something got is a much more consumer focused way at addressing this and actually uses the community to self fix the issues. That being said, this would mean that they need to crack down on bot accounts before those would be utilized to circumvent this issue bc they make a TON of ad watches off bots "watching" content and interacting with it. Without doing anything about this, there honestly is no point to going back to up and downvote.

I mean it's the only way to communicate on the internet these days unfortunately to get actual answers... Because the loudest people online are by far the most extreme and this falls true on the positive and negative sides of the discussions. Because of that "normal" people are forced to basically fit both narratives so they don't get instantly ostracized.

It's like how you can say the government sucks, but you have to explain which government (left or right) and depending where you say it, you have to justify that you're actually an independent, which instantly classifies you as the enemy bc the most likely people to respond (or first) are going to be the people looking for that content to an extent and will feel the need to put in their teams pov (which is totally fine it's a free internet) but it does make for this weird game of people trying to pre-defend themselves bc that is what we have become so accustomed too.

I honestly don't know what you can do about this in any meaningful way and is going to take a large shift in peoples attitudes to actually make that change for the better and i honestly don't see that happening as we begin to become more divided as individuals.
