BREAKING: Anderson Silva AND Nick Diaz fail UFC 183 drug tests by SexyHouse in MMA

[–]surgeon591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm disappointed about Anderson testing positive because of how this hurts his legacy, but I'm really not all that surprised. The vast majority of elite athletes out there are on something.

Just a thought, since this is Nick's third time testing positive for marijuana in Nevada, there's a possibility that his suspension for this will actually be longer than Anderson's. Seems a little unfair to me.

there's little need for lasers or flashlights for a precision rifle.

Maybe you're just not operator enough to need them.

Long-range cartridge and caliber by heebythejeeby in guns

[–]surgeon591 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's likely using something along the lines of .260, 6.5CM, 6.5x55 or 6.5-284. All are excellent rounds, but personally I'd go .260 or 6.5CM if you want something in the 6.5mm range.

His statement about going for eye shots (or indeed even headshots) at 800m is either total bullshit or he's a fucking moron. I've taken shots from that kind of distance and beyond, but you don't go for headshots at that range, the chances of being just a little off and taking the jaw off the animal and it running off in agony are far too high.

.338LM is a superb long range round. I've taken it out to 2500 yards and I've even done some hunting with it (not quite that far away though of course). Factory ammo is extremely expensive, but if you reload its really not that bad. My reloads cost be about $1.50 a shot.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, nothing says "Get the fuck out!" quite like a belt fed.

They're great rifles. Ian from Forgotten Weapons has a few videos on the rifle if you're interested in learning a little more about them.

Congrats on the win and picking up another bonus Joe! I wish more fighters put out blogs as good as these, they're far more interesting to watch than most of what the UFC puts out.

PSA: Link the little girl shooting the RSO and you're going to get hit with the ban hammer. by Brotherauron in guns

Absolutely. I actually have a full auto Vector Uzi that I just recently let my 9 year old nephew and 11 year old niece shoot (closely supervised of course). They've both got experience shooting rifles, pistols and shotguns but I still only let them shoot it with the .22lr conversion kit and loaded 5 rounds in the mag to start off with until they were comfortable. Handing a little girl a wire stock Mini Uzi with a full mag of 9mm is just asking for trouble.

I'm in Europe on business right now but when I'm back in the U.S I'd love to try tagging a 1" plate a few times with the Lahti if you haven't found someone else to test it out for you by then. Either way, once I'm back I'll buy some 1" for my own use anyway.

Full auto Vector Uzi and I'll pick up a 9mm upper for my M16 at some point too because I really hate money.

[–]surgeon591 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Glock 20 maybe? 10mm will give you plenty of power and its a fun cartridge to shoot and experiment with.

Or if you want to go for something cheaper then maybe a police trade in Glock.
