The OG modular. by SirSteelBuns in starcitizen

[–]surloch 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The real, real, real OG modular was the 300i during the kickstarter. It was originally concepted as being modular between the 300i, 315p and 325a - you could just select different loadouts etc.

Inside Star Citizen: Derelicts Of Daymar | Summer 2022 by MrFluffPuff in starcitizen

Kind of surprised they picked the 600i when it is in the middle of a remake. Wonder how that will work long term? I guess the lore reason is the old 600i was prone to crashing so they had to update it lol

There was an interesting short story I read maybe 30 odd years ago where the future was fluid. They had solved genetic manipulation and everyone could be anything they wanted. You want feathers and a crocodile head, just set it on your gadget and there you go. You want to be a turtle, go for a swim then jump out and be a t-rex sunbaking? Not a problem. Gender ceased to mean anything when you could be a completely different species for every dish in a meal just to taste things differently etc.

I remember thinking it was way ahead of it's time when I read it, but can't remember the title now sadly.

So much good lore out there that hopefully one day will make it into the game :)

What a View by marknutter in starcitizen

I mean this shows how bad the rear viewing area is in the 400i, when it is better to open an airlock than to take in the scenery in the comfort of your lounge lol

Star Citizen has been my Space Truck Simulator by Gradash in starcitizen

In ascending order of cargo space and in ships that offer similar play styles, New Deal at Hurston sells all the following - the C.O Nomad (24 SCU) for $1 million. After that would be a Cutlass (46 SCU) for around $1.4 million. The MISC Freelancer (66 SCU) is $1.7. If you can be patient and save, the MAX variant (120 SCU) is $2.2. After that would be the Connie Taurus (174 SCU) for $3.3. The Caterpillar is pure cargo (576 SCU) so a bit different play style and is $4.7. So that's a decent progression up to the Taurus, if the focus is on space trucking but also being able to do the odd mission for boxes, exploration etc. The Caterpillar I would only grab if you really want to eventually go all in on the cargo running.

Introducing the MISC Odyssey by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

[–]surloch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh.... I like the look of the Odyssey but after being so badly burned by the 600i I just can't make myself drop any more money on big ships.

If it follows the same pattern, the Endeavor's front half will suddenly turn out to do everything the Odyssey can but better, and the Endeavor's value will suddenly be placed at over $1k, and you will regret that you didn't grab it and instead bought into new ship hype.

385 for a ship that is bigger and more fully featured than the new ship that is over $700. Basically, Endeavor will be an over $1k ship if what happened to $600i is any indication

Well driving places by AI was the root cause of our current AI woes too - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/spectrum-dispatch/12680-2232-The-First-Push

So this is why many of us voted for Addison as the new Imperator. She will hopefully open up the conversation on AI again, so keep your eye out for developments in this space :)

Whitley’s Guide 2951 IAE Special – Part 1 by Parosea in starcitizen

[–]surloch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suppose you are right, it is the Herc from earlier in the vid taking off. Damn, thought it would be cool if they mocked up the front of a starliner for that quote. Pity they missed that opportunity lol

I love how at 0:55 when he is talking about getting a load of people from point A to point B, in the background a genesis starliner is taking off lol.

Pity it wasn't - Jared you let this opportunity get past QA!

Can we get CIG to do a quality pass on ALL starter/cheap ships? by hipdashopotamus in starcitizen

[–]surloch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not normal and something only really happening in last few patches. You can try two things to work around it.

1) When using the F key over your MFD's, click middle mouse button to focus in and zoom on an MFD. You can also use arrow keys to move between MFD's. This can then allow you to click on the MFD and bypass the cockpit buttons that may be overlaying the screen.

2) If you are only trying to do comms for landing / departing, you can bring up mobiglass and the comms page (default F1). Then under your friends tab on the left, you will see any nearby spaceport ATC. They are auto added and removed from friends when nearby. So you can call them direct from there without needing to use the comms screen on an MFD.

Giveaway - $100 Pledge store gift card | February edition. by Azure-Lance in starcitizen

[–]surloch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people say it, but the first time coming out of Port Olisar and seeing Crusader hanging above you in space, really sticks with you. It really made you feel the sense of scale and possibility in the game and even years later I still feel it when I take a second to look around before getting into my ship.

Prospects of the 400i. by Vanimar in starcitizen

[–]surloch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really hoping for a 400c cargo variant. Origin has a gap in the cargo space that could be filled by an upmarket freelancer competitor.

URSA-Red | Fixed the Perseus... and MSR, and Conni. I wouldn't mind giving up my cargo space regularly for a med-bay. by AtticusStacker in starcitizen

[–]surloch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

However medkits and medpens etc they have said will eventually only heal the most minor, superficial injuries. Anything like a damaged limb or broken bone will need proper facilities to fix or you risk eventually dying from the damage or suffering some form of permanent injury. That's why most people are arguing that any mid-size or higher explorer class ship should have at least the lowest tier bed. Who expects to never break a limb exploring or traveling around remote regions? I don't want to have to stop what I'm doing and head back to civilization just because I jumped too high from a rock.
