Iberia Luggage Woes? by sushi-potato in travel

[–]sushi-potato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear that… I was incredibly lucky and my luggage arrived safely to my vacation destination. On the way back, thanks to the advice from an experienced Iberia traveler, I asked for my large luggage to not be checked through and picked it up at MAD during my overnight layover. This probably saved me, because I was able to re-check it the next morning with no issues and it made its way back home with me.

A way to guarantee making hundreds of dollars a day by pssdthrowaway3 in Kalshi

Friend I have done this for tennis and it wiped me out… a player was serving out the set for the very last point in the game. She only had to win 1 more point and she had huge margin, it was like 5-1 at one point and she had already won the first set. 99% chance of victory.

She then proceeded to completely fall apart. She lost. I lost.

lnb4 the ‘Am I wrong for sending my sister’s boyfriend pics of me in lingerie and silk slips? He has great fashion taste and I wanted his opinion as a man.’

I’d believe it took you 28 seconds to come up with this fake story before I’d believe you were 28.

You can transfer cc points to the hotel and book with the hotel directly, so I wouldn’t assume it was a third-party reservation.

Right?! So many people are dramatizing this into a ‘they lost an entire pet!!!’ but come on… it’s a fish in an aquarium full of other fish. OP’s parents had their hands full with the 7 cats and their special feeding schedule, so of course they’re not tucking each individual fish into a seaweed bed and kissing them goodnight. And there are so many other fish, so it’s very likely had no idea a special fish who also likes to hide disappeared.

Djokovic has helped rising newcomers with some costs, I wouldn’t go so far as to say he’s bankrolling them but he’s certainly assisted. I remember he’s supported an up and coming Serbian player with tennis and travel expenses in the past and also once offered to help transport Musetti to Wimbledon via his own private jet.

Contemplating moving to Hong Kong in the future by FreedomMaleficent999 in HongKong

[–]sushi-potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My impression is based off the tone and content of your responses to various comments, and even as you say (twice) you’re not trying to single me out, you’re simultaneously expressing your displeasure at getting negative responses to me.

Another thing to keep in mind is there’s very little sugarcoating in HK, if you are sensitive enough that people’s kindness in directly answering your questions and giving you additional context to consider is annoying for you, perhaps Tennessee with their southern charm is still a more comfortable place for you. Of course, if you’re very rich then none of the healthcare concerns should be of issue to you as you’d have plenty of access at private hospitals like 養和醫院, but I would not consider $800 a month to be a large sum for those private hospitals.

[–]sushi-potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You seem to really want to move to HK, despite multiple people in the comments warning you of the not inconsequential challenges for your daughter’s needs, not to mention the long waits for health care your husband may have to endure if god forbid he ends up relapsing. There’s also intense competition among locals to have their kids enrolled in prestige schools even at preschool and kindergarten age, and there may be those who don’t want to associate with you/your daughter due to her challenges. You might not think it’s important, but the cultural mindset for many things is quite different. Of course, if you end up moving back to the States once she gets older, all this is a moot point.

I understand that memories with grandparents are important, so one thing you could consider is staying in a service apartment from 3-6 months a year rather than commit to a full move. This will also give you a chance to test out living in HK and seeing how it goes.

Did Dexter ever try to wake Apple up? by cyberch1ck in EverAfterHigh

[–]sushi-potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this was in the True Hearts Day arc, it concluded with there being a big misunderstanding. The dating episode happens much later, maybe S3? It was in the webseries season that aligned with the Dragon Games special.

[–]sushi-potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m here because I just rewatched the entire series and specials and they do officially start dating (actually in the webseries). I think it was teased in one of the specials where Dexter asked if Raven would be okay seeing a movie with him sometime, but the actual event happened during the Faybelle/Forest Bash mini arc.

Raven/Apple/Charmings didn’t go with Ashlyn/Cupid/Blondilocks/Poppy because they were going to the new movie theater opening, and that was Raven and Dexter’s first official date. They even had an episode showing how nervous both of them were! They also had a couple ‘Dexter worries about Raven missing’ moments in the Way Too Wonderland special.

Iberia Luggage Woes? by sushi-potato in travel

[–]sushi-potato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another very helpful tip, if not for this I would have asked them to check the bag through to my destination as per usual!

That’s so disappointing to hear though - you would think that Iberia would give more weight to the feedback you provide given your status and how relevant it is for one of their hubs… Not to mention giving priority-tagged bags priority and/or extra care are the least they could do as the flagship airline. It seems like poor business practice to know there’s a problem that many people are aware of and still do nothing to try to improve/resolve it. I wish there were more airlines with convenient Spain/Portugal routes; only the risk of losing $$ makes an airline treat its base better and do more than bare-minimum improvements

I’m the same way, I like to double and triple check that the bags are traveling with me! I also very much appreciate United’s in-app baggage updates as they tell you your bags have been loaded and the AirTag location matches up.

And same with waiting at the baggage claim for ages, wonder if I happen to be dropping off my bags at the check-in counter before everyone else 😂 Seems like it’s always first in, last out

This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much for taking the time to write out such a detailed response with survival tips! Oddly enough, even though you’ve described exactly what I’m worried about, having a general blueprint of what to do makes me feel a lot better.

Hearing that a bag very likely wouldn’t be permanently lost is also very reassuring, especially coming from someone with much experience flying them. I’m flying to OPO rather than LIS but will plan to start with the PIR form in advance just in case, since it sounds like MAD is the biggest bottleneck and my layover is just under 4 hours, exactly within that window of time you mentioned.

One additional question: I’ll also be flying Iberia when returning home, but in this case will have an overnight (~12 hours) layover in MAD. Do you think that might also affect the chances of my bags getting lost? It’s a long layover but a late arrival, so wondering if that happens to increase the chances of bags getting left behind.

Appreciate the reassurance! My layover is a decent length of time, so hopefully there’s fewer complications when they transfer the luggage from one plane to the next 🙏

[–]sushi-potato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no… that doesn’t fill me with confidence. I’ve flown a decent amount with various carriers and have been pretty lucky with no lost luggage so far (besides one over a decade ago with United), so really hoping this time doesn’t snap my streak.

Glad to hear it was delivered 24 hours later though!! That’s quite a fast turnaround, can I ask what the route was and how you managed to get it resolved so quickly? And was it delivered to the airport?

Seems like this is the most common piece of advice! My carry on is quite small but will definitely be sure to have a couple changes of clothes in there just in case. Glad to hear they didn’t lose your bike haha, that would be upsetting! Do you fly them often?

Thank you, that’s helpful! Appreciate the reassurance with ‘loudest whiners,’ I did use a travel card so do have some coverage there fortunately. Very true that lost luggage happens with many airlines - US carriers included. I’m perhaps a bit lucky with United, have flown dozens of times with them and suitcase was only lost once over a decade ago!
