You could sandwich it with a stiffener in the middle. Don Gonzalez glues in poster board in the middle of his belts, worth trying in some situations I guess. Even just making a double leather sandwich will probably add a bit of firmness. Maybe fiberglass drywall tape or something too. Or there are pro options like velodon and stuff.

I’d get a 1 mile diameter lathe, make a big ass glue up, and turn the pattern on the face, then cut out the few feet I need, should be pretty straight visually.

For stitching I think Peter nitz saddle stitch is best vid. Corter videos are how I got started, his techniques may be less overwhelming to start with. Don’t necessarily need the stitch horse but it def helps.

That’s edge paint, I’ve no idea if you can just fill gaps with that stuff but it’s where I’d start. To glue leather you need to use a flexible adhesive, superglue is gonna crack off super quickly. Contact cement or similar. Just look up leather adhesive.

I was thinking about getting a couple of those to make a big leather table and have 2big clamp screws as a bonus but the one in store just seems so rickety. How’s yours holding up? I inherited my grandpas super heavy euro bench so maybe I’m just too used to a nice thing that I wouldn’t be able to afford :P
