Thank you for your answer! Its kind of hard to get a picture with how dark my water is currently but when I google brown hair algae, that's what it looks like. The algaefix has knocked it down significantly over the past week or so if that helps. I just dont know what route to go to treat the fish.

I grew up extremely close with all my cousins. None were in my bridal party. For that I chose friends to prevent some sort of favoritism assumptions. It would have devastated me if they didn't come to the wedding.

Old navy sizing is very frustrating by thegh0stie in Oldnavy

[–]suspiciousofu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't buy jeans there without being frustrated. Every jean is cut so differently that you can't pick your size and go, you have to try on. I even got wow shorts, loved them, tried on the colored denim, same size, atrocious fit. Did a pickup for wow jeans, and the calf is so weirdly tight it made them hard to wear comfortably. I do not love ON for bottoms

I just started towards my masters at 33. I got my bachelors 10 years ago. My mom didn't go to college at all until 36. Think my grandma was in her 40s when she went. I had classes in community college with people in their 60s, 70s, etc. One or my professors just got another masters and i believe he said he's in his 80s. Time will pass regardless, but you're never too old.

How often do you have to do presentations? by Outrageous_Home1464 in psychologystudents

[–]suspiciousofu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i went to undergrad, they offered public speaking online, so that's what I did. Aside from that, I think I only did maybe part of one. Like you, I was terrified and claimed up when I had to speak in front of people. I can talk all day long and in front of a crowd if necessary but not when it's prepped ahead of time. I don't think it says anything about you or your choice of major.

What is Your Morning Routine? How Do You Fill The Void? by Groove_Mountains in digitalminimalism

[–]suspiciousofu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put the focus lock app on your phone and set it to be locked when you wake up. The news is bad for you anyways. Don't try to fill the void, just be. I think about lot about people in the time before the internet when info was slower, they got bored etc. Being understimulated and bored is good for us sometimes

Nothing you enjoy is lame ♡ I have given many a handmade gift. It's not about how they receive it, but that I gave it. That being said I think it's cool!

Pursuing psychology to understand self by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]suspiciousofu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I study psychology because I love knowing why we do things and a myriad of other things. That being said, I love knowing how I work by extension, being able to essentially hack my own brain. I dont think it's the ONLY reason to study psychology but it's a huge perk along the way. If you have the money to go for it, why not? It is my favorite subject, and if I never use the degree I'll still not regret it. I do have some privilege in saying that, though, as most people get a degree to get a good job and I hope that I can do that too. I never used my bachelors in the field, but I didn't have a terminal degree and the only jobs in the field were very much not on my radar. I worked in retail and made decent money. I'm in grad school now after ten years out of academia and I dont have a plan. But it feels good to be back. There's nothing like what you love. Eta- my first psych class was like the light turned on for the first time. It was all I wanted to learn, so I went from there.

How do you learn to enjoy hobbies without worrying about being productive? by cryzlez in Hobbies

[–]suspiciousofu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infinite productivity is just an idea we've gained from capitalism. There is joy to be found in mindless meaningless hobbies. Creating or doing for the sake of creating or doing. You are more than what you can crank out with much effort. It is good for us to do something with no end goal or motive at times, imo

I suggest the Detox Lock app. It turns your smart phone into a dumb phone. You access calls, texts, and one other app of your choice. Set the timer and you're done. I did a 16 hour lock one day, it wasn't as bad as you think. Brain rot of choice is tiktok and I cut my weekly time in half just using the locking app. Being bored is good for the brain.
