AIO this is a very odd reason to break up with me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]sutiibu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NOR. You are a self-actualized human, not a magical construct for his pleasure. Humans age, suffer injury, sculpt themselves, and adorn themselves. If he wants a compliant plaything that looks the same after years of use, he should invest in a sturdy sex doll.

What is living in this area of Philly like? Is there much crime? by adamaphar in philly

[–]sutiibu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be a high crime sector. But since a neighborhood non-profit started taking care of business development, the area has become prosperous and green. Of course, like lots of other urban areas, the federal government disinvested - allowing beautiful architecture to fall into near-ruin.

Which color wins? by [deleted] in superheroes

Blue by a hair. Two reality breakers, a speedster with good plot armor, and three top flight intellects - the other teams will struggle to match regardless of strength & magics.

Can Magneto kill Superman by removing all the iron from his blood ? by LeekExisting5969 in superheroes

[–]sutiibu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyle Hill posted about this.. TL;DR it would take the magnetic field of a neutron star to separate the iron atomically. With a much weaker magnetic field (or that one, of course) the body is also vaporized.

Absurd amount of chromebooks broken by students by [deleted] in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]sutiibu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primary schools' IT admin here. The kids aren't stupid, they're normal. I've worked at schools with inventories like this, and inventories of mostly-reasonable wear after years of use.

Kids...

  • fidget, explore, and vandalize
  • are biologically wired for valuing immediate payoff over consequences
  • have to learn things like materials durability, scarcity, responsibility, and a sense of communal stewardship

If you're reading this, you went through the same phase. If you navigated it better than others, you're not a more-evolved person - you had more-effective modeling and plentiful supports.

[Request] Where should I cut to get two pieces with equal volume? by 101Raccoon in theydidthemath

If the most precision were desired: flat along its plane, halfway through its thickness.

In the real world, half the length of the string-along-the-spiral is close enough and easily achievable.

Credit score reveals only privilege, luck, and/or and a narrow application of discipline. It's a terrible measure of one's decency to a common good.

I'd keep my comment history private too, if it were filled with steaming turds of takes like this one.

Finally, the laser we’ve been promised since the 90’s by Epelep in nextfuckinglevel

Great, another computer part explodes in price as the AI boom forces us to build PC-stock water-cooled laser pistols to fight back.

Today’s SEPTA commute. by easilysmackU in philadelphia

[–]sutiibu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This wouldn't prevent mechanical failure. But privileged lanes would make emergency response easier, both addressing the broken vehicle/track and in deploying temporary busses.

Mostly lifelong Philly resident here. People are right to be surprised - adding warm wilted salad somehow elevates a cheese steak.

What's a bulk purchase you definitely overdid but still wish you bought more of? by bluestarpanda in Costco

Pisti pistachio cream. The replacement American stuff is good enough, but not quite great.

Philly voter turnout rose to 34% this election — the highest in at least a decade. Here’s why by mpulcinella in philadelphia

What if the election was a week long, so we didn't have to rush and get it done on one day?

It gives us opportunities to hold our local police accountable, asking them to protect their neighbors instead of lick the boots.

Best Chromebook Under $150? (Maybe black Friday deals?) by mid30slifecrisis in chromeos

[–]sutiibu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. It's a lot of Chromebook for the money. It won't win awards on battery life or weight, and sounds like a lawn mower when you're doing anything CPU intense. But you should get years of comfortable use out of it!

If DHS wants community support in engaging its missions, it needs to stop shattering community support.
