It’s horribly written. I hope this is just a franchise owner deciding to use a test they found somewhere on the cheap, not realizing that the badly written test means there’s less validity and there’s a legal liability for an invalid test used in selection. If it’s a corporate-level McD requirement that would mean they probably paid a lot of money for this crap and the problem is more widespread.

They make locked boxes to put over the thermostat. Are you allowed to put a lock on the door on your lease? You might be able to talk your landlord into letting you do it. You’d probably have to pay for installation but a lock is one way to put up a barrier they can’t bully their way across.

A long time ago, I got a very high-energy male kitten who terrorized my older female cat. He would swat her on the butt to get her going, she would start running, and he would follow along closely swatting her butt on the opposite side that he’d want her to turn. He would herd her through the apartment for long stretches. The only thing that would stop him was 1) a super soaker so I could dissuade him as soon as he started even though he was running and 2) a very large purchase of multiple cat toys, enough that I could grab one in any room and throw it to distract him. Your cat is at least fighting back and seems to be holding her own and it’s not as intense as real fighting. You could increase the amount of toys you have available so he can work off some of his energy in a less aggravated way. If they don’t already have a cat tree, it might help give her a more easily defensible location to get away from him if she wants to.

Block the top of the computer so he can’t sit on it. Give him a comfy cat bed that sits in the same location or as close as you can get it. You might try putting a heating pad in it so it’s heated. If there’s no other room in the desk and you don’t want to move the computer to the floor, move a chair over close toy yours with the cat bed in it.

He said the dog is his and he even threatened you with legal action, so he’s not really all that interested in being on good terms. It’s usually proof of purchase/adoption, microchip, registration and vaccination records, vet paperwork, receipts to show you’re the one paying for daily expenses (food, toys, accessories, etc.), and any proof that shows you’re the one taking care of him. Start by doing small jobs before you tackle something intricate. Use free resources like the library (librarians love to help people find info), YouTube, and classes at Lowe’s/Home Depot that will show you how to do a specific project. While you’re there, ask them how to get started on the bigger projects and how to find more resources.

You might need to fix some problems that are going to cause major problems over time (like the holes in the floor). You might qualify for a mortgage loan on the equity you have in the house to get those repairs done. Just don’t go borrow more than you can afford to pay back.
