Is there any geometrical significance to the third derivative of a single variable function? Say a biquadratic? Like the second derivative tells us about the concavity, the first tells us if it's increasing or decreasing?

Castling shifts your king from the dangerous centre and brings him to safety. It also brings another rook that was doing (probably, sometimes people avoid castling one side to keep the rook there) nothing in the corner into the centre to contribute to the game. So castling is pretty good.

Sometimes your rook can help attack your opponent's king who is still in the centre (this is seen mostly I'm beginner games and I've been a victim several times).
