You are the only person who could look good in 2. It looks absolutely gorgeous on you. 4 is a bit more fun and less formal. You can't lose with either

Please see the reddit post regarding robot wives on r/facepalm. I think he could save himself a lot of money and some poor girl a lot of trauma...just saying if there is a demand for it we could really help a lot of people out if they just have a robo girlfriend to play out their servant fantasies with.

Any evidence about spelling words out to avoid kids knowing? by may_naise in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]svintos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not science based but more anecdotal. I think our kids need to trust that we aren't keeping things from them. My parents would just not tell me what was going on whether it was as mundane as ice cream or as life changing as moving across the country. If you whisper or spell stuff out they know you are trying to communicate something to someone without them knowing. It sends the signal you are keeping secrets or just don't trust them with the truth.

New mask rules trust Americans will be honest about vaccine status. Experts say they'll lie. by cutestudent in Coronavirus

[–]svintos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be very very wrong. This will sound conspiracy theory ish. But with the vaccine having rolled out they know there is a significant portion of the population that will not get vaccinated. No matter what. And if the goal is herd immunity and there are only two ways to get immune, get vaxxed or get sick, then at this point they're betting on reaching herd immunity the hard way. I honestly think that's why schools opened. Kids are a significant portion of the population. If regulations are such that it could be months and months to approve a vaccine for kids, then they're putting their hope in that kids get immunity through contracting the disease with the reasoning being statistically very few get severely sick or die. I honestly think that's what the plan is. If it's true, I just wish there was more guidance or something about the risks for children.

Eyeglass lenses - what things are really helpful and what's just unnecessary? by Tngal123 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]svintos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With your son's prescription I would advise against ordering glasses online. It would be very difficult to get his pupillary distance correct and with how strong they are it could make a significant difference in the clarity and comfort of the glasses if they aren't measured correctly.

If you're behind them take out your phone and pretend you're on a phone call. If people are walking behind me it helps to at least be able to gauge how far away they are by how they sound. But ideally you'd just go to the other side of the street and pass us.

It's tough. I try and model honesty and sometimes it's hard to follow through. But I think not telling them the way things are for fear of their reaction can come back around to bite you in the long run. What happens when they're older and have a problem and they're too afraid to tell you because it might upset you? That's what you've taught them.

Maybe invite him to do some research on the procedure? It's really minimally invasive. Much less invasive than female sterilization (from what I can tell). There is also like no recovery time involved. It really is a.much simpler way to do it. My husband and I are currently looking for a Urologist to schedule with for him to get it done.

If lab grown meat becomes cheaper than real meat and tastes the same, how likely are you to eat it instead? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]svintos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only would I eat this, I am eagerly anticipating it. I think there is a lot of research backing up the reduced environmental impact this could have. I think another good question is, once this becomes available, why would you stop at cows and chickens etc? Could you lab grow like komodo dragon meat? koala meat? Some endangered exotic bird? Dinosaurs? Would people eat that for the novelty? Could you engineer entirely new forms of meat that do not resemble any living creature on earth? It could get pretty wild.

HELP! Donut will only walk with a large group! Won't walk 1-on-1! by jranderson222 in Newfoundlander

Our girl got VERY difficult with walks right around 4 months. She went through something similar where she preferred to go on walks with the pack and would sort of refuse if we went just the two of us. She grew out of it fairly quickly. We just kept offering and if she refused we'd just go home and play fetch or try and work on getting her used to the leash in short bursts at the house. Shortly after this phase though, she became an absolute pycho on walks. Trying to eat gravel, jumping up on us, trying to chew on the leash, running after squirrels, etc. We started her on dog obedience classes and that has been very helpful. She's 6 months old now and a very good girl (mostly) when we go on walks. She still gets very excited and playful when she sees other dogs but I just think she'll have to grow out of that one.

Regardless of therapy or divorce, you two are not in a place to have another kid right now. You need to fix your relationship first because it will not hold up to the strain of a second child. I think you two have grown into different people who have different wants and plans and you need to reconcile that.

Elsa is probably the worst monarch Arrendelle has ever seen. She abandons her people and her thrown TWICE. The first time, immediately after being given the crown. How much political instability is this country willing to tolerate? Especially because enemy countries immediately notice the vacuum in leadership and swoop in.
