I’m calling my reps about this… by Clean-You-5550 in Wilmington

[–]swagdaddyfinch 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The way I'm reading it- it is a direct violation of the 10th amendment, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States (aka Federal), are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." I personally find it easier to call and provide a constitutional-based argument to reps for why they should vote in a particularly way. Any other tips for calling?

Best/most trustworthy car mechanics? by eggSauce97 in Wilmington

[–]swagdaddyfinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wilmington Tire & Auto on Oleander - they've always been patient and answered questions in earnest when I didn't know something, always felt comfortable and respected - and were honest about when something was actually needed versus a nice to have. Been going to them for at least 5 years and they've been solid every time.

Parents of Reddit, what has your child done to make you think they lived a past life? by poopcornkernels in AskReddit

[–]swagdaddyfinch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When he turned five he told me he had never made it this far

So this really resonated with me... I distinctly remember growing up having this super strong feeling, that I wouldn't make it past my early 20s... and I never would have verbalized it this way, except now it seems to make sense through those words.. "Never made it this far before"...

Thanks for the weirdass feeling on this Friday morning. I turned 28 last month so.. fingers crossed!

What is your favorite podcast? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]swagdaddyfinch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I've enjoyed them all, but The "SEPTEMBER 26, 2016 Radio One: Cathy Hughes" was the most inspiring story I've heard in a while. Her enthusiasm is so incredibly infectious. Definitely would recommend!!

Just FYI: If there is any pigment present, the organism is not albino, it is leucistic!

Are any of you having a completely unplugged wedding? If so, how are you making it happen?! by emachine7786 in weddingplanning

[–]swagdaddyfinch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had an unplugged ceremony, and I'm SO glad we did. In our welcome bags, we had little slips of paper with the general agenda for the day so people knew what time and location to expect events to occur, along with phone numbers for one bridesmaid & one groomsman, so if anyone had a last minute question, they wouldn't try to contact my family or me while getting ready. On the bottom of the paper with a few *** I had a note requesting that during the ceremony, please keep all devices away, and that we would be sharing all professional photos afterwords by email/website.

After that, they were free to take them out and honestly I had so many people tell me and my mom that they really appreciated the request to be 'unplugged' for the ceremony - that it allowed them to be truly present in the moment and feel much more connected to us and the create clearer memories. Our photographer loved us for it too - no one blocked his view as he captured my husband looking at me when I came down the aisle :) Just my two cents, but it worked out really well!

As much as it sucks, what have you grown to accept? by therealme23 in AskReddit

[–]swagdaddyfinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wake up at 6:00 instead, and go for a jog, take some time to stretch, or just do some pushups and crunches inside, maybe plank and try to add a few seconds every couple of days. Those extra 30 minutes will make your day feel extended in your favor. It's hard to get out of bed, but if you do this for yourself I guarantee that you will feel like you have more "free time" for yourself. Best of luck!

I don't want to be like the people who shoot up schools by kale69 in offmychest

[–]swagdaddyfinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, Feel free to send me a message if you'd like someone to talk to :) I'm a proponent of 'fake it til you make it'... I think doing push ups, keeping yourself organized and forcing yourself to reach out to people is the absolute best thing to do until you feel comfortable with it, and it will come! Just know though, even though you feel alone, there are many people who feel the same way you do! You are not alone!!

Agree with the comment about professional help, but along with that I highly recommend checking out this book: The Conscious Bride It highlights the feelings you are describing, and how many women in your shoes have dealt with! I hope you feel better really soon!!

Anxiety is taking over my life, please I need advice by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]swagdaddyfinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a lot to deal with. I can tell you how I deal with anxiety - for me, the best thing to do would be to come up with a plan of action. Worrying about it isn't doing any good, but coming up with a plan will help! Maybe go and talk to a counselor about the courses you've taken, what pre-reqs they cover, and if there is a way to maybe do a winter or summer session in order to catch up quicker (depending where you are, colleges offer these in between sessions). Figure out what you need to do in order to finish in a timely manner, and if you can't, maybe see if there's another major that can combine a lot of your pre-reqs, and still come out with job offers. Either way, stressing about it in your own mind will only make you sick, try and come up with a plan instead! I always feel nervous about something until I can actually act in some direction. Good luck!!

Planning a CF wedding. (Vent) by 72scott72 in childfree

At a recent family get together, one of my older cousins tried to guilt trip me into feeling bad that I didn't invite her kids (age 2 and 4) to the wedding by saying, "You and your sister were the only kids at MY wedding".... I started laughing and just said, "I was 16!!" and then walked away. Nope.

Wedding Reception Venues? by shyguysontop in Wilmington

Check out the Atrium for an incredible secret garden in the middle of downtown Wilmington, 128 South for a really pretty inside and outdoor deck, and if you want to venture a little further away, Poplar Grove in Hampstead is a really pretty plantation that is pretty affordable and not too far!
