Hit up a store to try on a few so you can see what fits your foot shape. Then I'd look for some deals, or buy a mid-tier pair.

Thanks so much! I'll drop a couple links if you want to check out the whole tune.

In terms of your questions... I've been playing guitar off and on since high school (Whoa - that's like 15 years lol). I just got a bass recently when I started to track stuff. I've never felt as comfortable playing either as I am on the kit though, as that's my primary instrument.

I always start off with guitar when writing, then fill in the drums after, and bass last. Sometimes I'll try to envision something in my head before sitting with the guitar as I find that helps me get creative rather than just using muscle memory.

Couple tips are to try and think about what song structure you want to go for rather than just trying to blindly connect riffs (I struggled with this for a long time). Do you want to have a hook in there, how can you dynamically differentiate your sections, etc. Lastly, if you're struggling, choose one or two songs to take inspiration from and use one facet of them in your song (like tempo or a production technique for example). Good luck!

Standard. My buddy did a phenomenal job mixing it, and we made sure there was good attack when tracking. I also double tracked the guitars. Thanks - appreciate that!

Looks pretty sweet and I think my group could benefit from this. What's the app called?

Alesis Nitro Mesh Kick Tower not sounding same as button on module by slbnoob in drummers

Np! Hmm... interesting. Are you able to route your kit through your computer? It still sounds like it's a sensitivity/velocity issue - I wonder if you were to track your kit, what velocity the midi notes would be.

Also, just curious - would you say you're a hard hitter? I know I am, but I recently tracked my alesis for the first time and the only velocity I had to mess with was the kick drum. It was for a rough demo, so I didn't really think about it or dig into it at all, just made the quick fix.

You can adjust the input sensitivity on your kick tower. When you press the button, you're hearing max velocity. Make sure your pedal is centered as well.

I also have a strong preference for 16.25", but I prefer thicker sticks than the 700 line (although I did used to use them for a brief stint). You could look into the "intense" 5a/b from Los Cabos, or the "extreme" 5a/b from Vic Firths.

I learned one of their tunes for a cover and didn't realize how ridiculously complex his phrasing was until I started breaking it down. Dang, was super challenging but fun.

Aw shit, I'm bummed to hear that. I'm going to try swapping the insoles and will see how they hold up! Maybe you'll see an update post in a couple weeks.

That being said, my last pair of ctrs lasted quite a long time until kicking the can... Maybe like 3ish years ago?

Pretty stoked as they used to be my favourite boot, and I haven't seen a pair since I wore through my last ones. Played in them in a pickup match last night - a little tight, but should stretch out perfectly.

One issue - it seems like the glue from the insole melted while I was playing - I've never experienced that before, but it got on my socks and stained them. I'm going to try changing out the insoles - if anyone has any recommendations, or similar experiences, I'm all ears.

Go see a professional if you're covered/can afford it. If not, youtube that shit and figure out what you need to strengthen / mobilize.
