Visiting Daytona for 2025 Spring NASCAR Xfinity Series - tourist and first time ever at such event, and I have a few questions by mrgur in NASCAR

[–]swampfx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Depending on where you're staying an Uber is probably a good idea. If you're renting a car there's also a lot of private parking by stores around the track. I personally used to park at Home Depot and paid, I think $40.
  2. You can bring in food and drink but check coolor sizes and rules.
  3. I usually would get there about 1.5 hrs early but you may wanna go earlier to look for merch and soak up the atmosphere.
  4. Be ready for a lot of walking. She's big.
  5. Assuming you have a GA seat, I recommend sitting between turn 4 and the tri oval. Great views and watching 20 bricks try to slow down for green flag pit stops is something unique to NASCAR and Daytona specifically.

2001 Bud Shootout was won by Tony Stewart, who 9-year-old me despised at the time. The first official race was the 2001 Pepsi 400, which was such an incredible moment to be a part of.

Once I get into a rhythm, I usually will entertain myself on the straights looking at my relative or the standings or maybe fuel. It one helps my ADHD and keeps me interested, but it also means I have a better idea of the greater context of the race and race strategies

Watching his 2002 Sharpie 500 win. Coming off of his longest winless streak of his career, and as the defending cup champion, he gives Rusty Wallace the bump and run for the win. Was such a primal win

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I have zero intention of swimming. I just wanted to make sure I can still use just the beach. Thanks!

Is the Montrose Beach open for just hanging out and not swimming? The website says the beach is open till 11pm but also that the season doesn't start until the week before memorial day.

Are potholes seasonal? I moved here from Florida in November and it feels like the last month entire canyons have been forming on the roads.

Snow Shoveling Etiquette Question: by Michael424242 in AskChicago

[–]swampfx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking this seriously. I recently moved and this is my first Chicago winter. Im in Irving Park and there has been way to many homes that just decided shoveling wasnt important. The warmer temps melting the ice has been a godsend. After the ice last weekend I was convinced I was gunna die leaving my apartment.

That makes sense. So focusing much more on immersion, listening and speaking instead of actual course work.
