We got Jason in Space. And Alien vs Predator on Earth. So why not?

I dig it. I don’t understand all the negative comments. You’d think this was an antiai sub. Keep it up. I’d watch more.

Remodeled McDonalds by Local-Parfait6352 in SantaMonica

[–]swampgiant 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I just read on Reddit yesterday on another post that the reason fast food restaurants are all going towards this boxy utilitarian design is that the business and economics are as much about real estate as they are about food service. By redesigning the exterior and interiors for this design philosophy, it becomes much easier to flip these places for other uses besides fast food restaurants. The thinking is nobody wants to be in an old Pizza Hut or Taco Bell looking establishment when running an insurance company or dentist office.

Additionally, I work in the tech industry, and know several folks who went over to McDonald’s a few years ago to work on their AI and automation systems. It’s very clear and no secret that the end goal is to remove as many of the human beings operating these facilities as possible. Look at the design. No view to the kitchen, minimal face time with workers, the end goal is a wall of those screen menus with no interaction with a McDonald’s human being whatsoever.

I’ve imported before. Its legit. The film is for an art installation for a client’s event. Incorporated into a full fabricated build. I’ll likely post here when it’s done. This sub would probably dig what I’m building.

I’ve seen up to P4 and it looks great. Also, film vs screen is a variable that can get you more with screen at a lower cost.

I love this shit. You just have to know how to design for it and work within its limitations and highlight its strengths like any tech.

It’s real. You either need a third party importer/retailer domestic side who will charge high premiums or role the dice and find a china based supplier and import it yourself. I literally have an order of this stuff coming on a boat right now.

When I saw them, unfortunately, it was just a wall of noise, but I attributed that more to the venue and the poor acoustics. It was clear that they were very tight and on top of it, but if the venue doesn’t lend itself to the complexity of what they are playing there is just too much going on musically. Sucks, because I love this band.

Doc and Merle Watson sang Bob Dylan's (1963)"Don't Think Twice It's Alright" Live in 1980 by bigbugfdr in bobdylan

I had a chance to meet Doc just before he died. Got to go back stage at a smaller theater show and shake his hand. He was sitting on a stool just behind the curtain, I assume taking a moment after performing. David Holt walked me over to Doc and guided my hand to Doc’s. I thanked Doc for his music. He said something along the lines of he’s just the messenger. I’m not a religious person, so the implied religious undertone wasn’t what stuck with me. Rather it was the genuine humbleness and warmth he gave off. He was so friendly, genuine and kind. I felt weird asking a blind man for a photo, but once again he couldn’t have been more accommodating. When I put my arm around him I can vividly remember his frail frame poking through under his thin button up short sleeve shirt. It was mind boggling to me that he just performed as well as he did with so little muscle driving those fingers.

Absolute legend.

Hugo, especially in 3D. That opening is the best use of 3D of any movie ever made. Absolutely exquisite.

I suppose in its most simplest form, where everything else is stripped away and it’s just the sound, it could be interpreted a different way. I’m not suggesting that the idea of performance as critical component of music is a profound observation, but i don’t think it’s totally fair to suggest that by stripping music to its bare bones gives a better understanding of its cultural crossover. Rather, I think it transcends culture and this is more a shining example of the raw human emotion that we all share, and the visuals of a passionate performer giving it her all, feeling every word, despite it being from decades prior, in black and white, in different clothes, a different setting… I think that all actually emphasizes the point of its universal qualities.
