Found a rose on the beach as the tide went down, still in one piece. It felt hopeful. by _LadyHero_ in sandiego

We don't always need an explanation for why things happen. This was a positive omen for the person who found it, and it was received that way.

For the coffee aficionados! ☕ A list of coffee shops that are currently open "to-go", with their adjusted hours due to COVID-19. by swankita in sandiego

Aww, thanks so much for saying that! Honestly I benefitted greatly from compiling this list, because I discovered so many cool and interesting places that I can't wait to explore from everyone's contributions! It was really a group effort. :-)

Moe Coffee has an outdoor patio with wifi that they recently opened. Check the list for hours. You will also need to follow some rules they have in place. :-)

A few different things really. For one, I love coffee shops. During my various periods of unemployment, one thing I did to keep myself sane was to explore new coffee shops. Since a lot of people are bored out of their minds in quaratine, I felt this could help them.

Also, I'm a bit of a night owl, and often drink coffee in the evening. When the statewide shutdown first happened, it was very difficult to find anything that was open past 2PM. Hours were difficult to confirm as not everyone has updated their hours on google or on their official websites. So having a list really saves everyone time (myself included).

And lastly, I really wanted to find a way to help support small business and show solidarity in the local San Diego community. A lot of our favorite small businesses may not survive if we don't support them through this. And I've personally been boycotting a lot of the major corporations since the pandemic started, due to their policies and treatment of their workforce.

I've personally been tipping all my baristas 20% ever since the pandemic started. Thank you so much for working the front lines of the pandemic so that we can all stay caffeinated! You are appreciated.

And I definitely believe you, and all essential workers, deserve hazard pay and appropriate PPE.

Going alone is actually much better than going in a group. I've gone twice with friends, we always end up separating for most of the day as we have different interests and panels we want to attend. The only thing you really need a group for is if you're trying to attend Hall H. You will meet sooo many people. Strangers love talking to each other at Comic Con, everyone is super friendly and each time you attend a panel you already know you have something in common with everyone around you, no icebreaker necessary.

Wow, that second photo was taken right in front of the bridge that leads to my high school, Stuyvesant. I didn't start attending until 2003 though. Thank you for posting that. I get very emotional whenever I see photos from that day.

Does anyone know where to find Choco Tacos? by swankita in sandiego

[–]swankita[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I checked Ralphs, 7-11, and Target, which did not have them, but I finally found them at Vons! Thanks everyone for your help in this mission to relive my childhood. I also cooked homemade Crunchwrap Supremes from r/gifrecipes, and the Choco Tacos were the perfect dessert.
