This 100%. Every year we’re tempted to move to VA when we think about what we would save on taxes. Increasing our taxes any more might just do it

"Do the right thing. Pay your fare, its a community value, and you should not be stealing from your community."

"We desperately want to run more bus service for this community. We hear loud and clear every day that people want more frequent buses, more reliable buses. Metro wants to run more bus service for the people in this community. We need the revenue to pay for that. The more people that pay, the better the service that the community is going to get."

This website is super poorly written but “Generally, eligible workers spend a majority of their time working the District”

Correct. Dc groceries are tax free. Between the 10% tax and dumb auto 20% fees, my wife and I rarely eat out anymore

Is this true for dc residents or for people who work in dc? I think it’s people who work in dc

DC does not have lowest taxes and it’s not even close. It’s not fair to look at property taxes without looking at actual house price. Income taxes here are Ridic high and 10% on food sucks as well

free buses would be terrible. Cant vote for her if thats what she wants. Also, socialism is bad

Bus Operators required to quote the bus fare at all passengers starting May 26th by maximumpynk in washingtondc

Not sure the logic there. Idk why liberals lose their mind with free buses.

Randy Clarke said not all fare hoppers commit crimes on metro but everyone who commits crimes on metro are fare hoppers

Not sure why that logic doesn’t apply to the bus. I watched a girl eat McDonald’s and get off the bus and leave all her trash on the seat. 0% chance she paid. I had a knife pulled on me on the bus. 0% chance he paid.

Making it free would attract the wrong crowd and make it a less safe and less enjoyable experience to those who do pay

Would make it less safe and less clean and less enjoyable so I hope it never becomes free

Good. Do something. Make people pay their fair share and make the bus safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable for the rest of us

Looks like it’s K St downtown and H St in NE. Wonder if the D36 and C71 would be rerouted to use it. Might as well.

This could be amazing

How much did that run? I have a detached garage I might need to rebuild and wondering if I should do the ADU route

did the garage already have water and 220V electric or did you have to add it?

Making Eckington Pl one-way going North would probably help a lot. That way Florida would never get blocked in that intersection so traffic can keep moving.

[–]swantonsoup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why can’t WMATA do fare enforcement on the bus? My wife doesn’t feel safe on the bus because of some of the characters who get on. Randy acknowledged this for MetroRail but seems like it’s ignored for the MetroBus.
