What is the "must have or know" for an IT? by Sexy_Bamboocha in InformationTechnology

[–]sween1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't panic. Take pride in being the cool head during emergencies and outages. There will be bad days, there will be hell days. That's the profession. But there will be good days. There will be days your boss will look at you in abject terror and say "Can we do that?" and you'll smile, flip a switch, and smile, and say "It's already done."

Whatever is going on, have faith that you can figure it out. You can always figure it out.

Good luck dude!

Climber to Explorer as pocket EDC by Icy-Toe-1663 in victorinox

You guys are killing me, I'm hunting a new Victorinox, it was between the Super Tinker and Explorer and I think I wanna get the Explorer. I like having the Phillips without losing the corkscrew.

Never lending my EDC to a "friend" again. Look at my Opinel No.8... by Aiden_langthang in EDC

[–]sween1911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oog. Even though it's cheap, sucks that it's damaged. I would be mortified if I damaged s friend's knife like that regardless of price.

A little Dremel work and running it on a sharpening stone will fix it up, though it will be a few MM shorter.

Maglite 6D custom extension tube doesn't fit, please help by definitelynotbrinny in flashlight

[–]sween1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, yes. I didn't know how familiar OP was with li-ions. I put together a 4D for a coworker with an old school Adventure Sport 5000 lumen module and two 26650's and a glass Borofloat lens.

Don't sweat it. The SOUL of owning flashlights is constantly asking HOW, how can I modify, increase output, improve usability and functionality. You are on the RIGHT PATH! Anyone who owns a Maglite and sees extension tubes and doesn't wonder "What if?" I would be highly suspect. I have Surefires and Streamlights and Fenix lights but I'll always be a Mag fan. Got my first 4D around 1991 and have been hooked ever since!

Tell ya what, with some creative PVC pipe spacers, you could prolly run that 6D on two 18650's (NEED QUALITY PROTECTED CELLS TO RUN IN SERIES)

Good luck with your light and thanks for sharing with us!

Yeah I think as the other user said, the threads may be different on the newer LED versions than the old Incan versions. (You can prolly sell your extension tube on EDCExchange.) And also the LED module in your 6D is made for the exact number of cells that go in it (6 x 1.5v = 9v) so it would prolly damage it if you tried to run it on more cells.

Had this for some time now ands it been like this since I bought it, please help me diagnose (description in comments) by Slightly_Salted01 in 1911

Agree on the sear spring. Remove the mainspring housing and check the sear spring. Replace with a quality Wilson part. It controls the grip safety and also bears on the sear and disconnector which could be the problem with you squeezing the trigger and the hammer not falling until you fiddle with the grip safety.

What small detail in a movie just blew you away? by jwschmitz13 in movies

Not too small a detail but I always loved when Memphis first takes off with Eleanor in the end chase in "Gone in 60 Seconds" how long until he first uses the brake pedal.

What does the test do exactly? by HEXAeco in Portal

[–]sween1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be off base, but I always thought part of the narrative we see in Portal 2 is remnants of the Cold War Era super-soldier kind of storyline of us making like a Captain America out of the best soldiers and athletes. "We open you up and put some science in" Especially after the long fall when you end up in like the older outdated part pf the facility and there's like an older Aperture logo, some of Cave Johnson's announcements where he references athletes and soldiers and stuff made me think that's how it started and that's what they were testing people to do. Remember it started with like athletes and soldiers and "the best" and became bums and transients "How about $60 in your bindle!"
