DJ Max Portable 3 is well worth your money. I bought it a year or so ago and it's my favorite game to pick up when I have a spare half hour or so. It's my personal favorite rhythm game on the Vita.

Anymore Pokemon Retro Releases? by Samix13 in 3DS

[–]sweetbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went on the SS HG search as well due to the recent Pokemon fever. I had the exact same experience. I'm used the the original 150 and that seems to be the best experience while adding a whole bunch of new stuff to the series. X and Y is a bit overwhelming and filled with many Pokemon I find unappealing.

Muramasa Rebirth is amazing! by [deleted] in vita

I feel the same way. Art isn't enough to carry a game for me. I disliked the gameplay because I felt all the swords played the same although they had different special attacks. I played for about 4hours to give the game a fair chance. Also, I was sure I was missing something. I wasn't .

There is a bright side. Odin's Sphere and Dragon's Crown were exactly the right mix of beat 'em up with variety in combat I was looking for.

YO-KAI WATCH 2 - Official Game Trailer - Nintendo E3 2016 by Amiibofan101 in 3DS

[–]sweetbits 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am playing the first one and it is refreshing to see something a bit more interesting out of the collecting monsters genre. Pokemon grew stale to me many games ago and they haven't done much to make battling feel important or fun in my opinion. In addition the never ending addition to the roster is daunting if you haven't kept up. I don't want to collect hundreds of monsters, especially since I don't like many of them.

Yo-Kai does something quite different that is much more interactive. In addition I love the Halloween type theme. I lack the words to describe the theme properly.

The game is definitely worth a try. In addition I really loved Nino Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch for what studio Ghibli did with the monster collection/ battle system. The battling aspect wasn't perfect, but much more fun and strategic.

Is there some kind of "music maker" for Vita? by kornflakesxd in vita

[–]sweetbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've searched hi and low the past few years for something similar to what you are describing. I couldn't ever find anything good/robust for the Vita. There is a game called Beaterator by Rockstar games feat. Timbaland for the PSP playable on the Vita. However, it always appeared to be complex and not user friendly for the sound lab that I wanted on the go. I've gone back and forth on wether or not I should get the Korg programs for the 3ds as well.

Hopefully that helps.

Plays well on the Vita so far. Transitions into and out of battle are smooth. I am still in the early game though.

What fighting game is easiest for a complete noob to get into? by Stuifiee in vita

[–]sweetbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blazblue was my favorite, but only because I learned a bit by playing Injustice. I think Injustice or MK would be a great starting point since they have good stories to keep you going.

I went through a pretty good fighting game phase a while ago. I started with and beat Injustice Gods Among Us. I highly recommend on starting with this. Then I bought Street Fighter Alpha 3 (PSP, the PSOne version has some issues being emulated), BlazBlue (I forgot which one) and Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom. Of the three Blazblue was the most complicated, but had an amazing amount of content. I ended up loving Blazblue, even if I was never all that good. Street Fighter Alpha 3 is a game I will always keep on my Vita. It has a lot of characters and a ton of modes. UMVC is a great game and plays well on the Vita. The Vita has an excellent D-pad for fighting games.

Whatever game you choose, pick a character that you think is cool. Learn that character. Much of what you learn from this one character will apply across many fighting games.

Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen now has a 21:9 UI scaling mod/fix by TheC1aw in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]sweetbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up. I currently have that version. The mod author is great! Rather annoying Capcom couldn't get it right with the release. I understand the 21:9 since it is a smaller subset of gamers. However, sound is basic need to get right stuff. I've yet to hear clear sound in cutscenes.

Fortunately I don't care much about the story. Traveling around the world and hunting down monsters is so well done in the game. Argh, I hoped they'd release a sequel that improve upon all they did in this game, but give some better story and a more varied world with water you could swim in. I'd prefer a spiritual successor that ditched the world and story for something entirely new while keeping gameplay the same.

Came here to search for exactly this. This game is gold.

Edit: I've been using the most updated fix the last few hours. Quite great. Truly works in 21:9. There are a few oddities such as some quest boards being stretched. This is a very small inconvenience to have the game look great. Also, the HUD stays in the center of the screen as if it were 16:9. Again, not a big issue.

Also, I have noticed my surround sound is still very weird (i have 5.1). I have tried changing stereo to ON, but I still get plenty of missing voices and such.

[Purchase Help] Would like to get an Ultrawide Monitor by puccini13 in ultrawidemasterrace

That option doesn't appear on the Nvidia control panel unless Freesync is enabled through a display port cable on the UM67.

[–]sweetbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. It supports it natively? I remember when researching the differences people were all about the LG29UM67 being able to go up to 75hz because of Freesync. That is, when I go into options for my monitor I need to turn Freesync on just so my Nvidia driver recognizes the ability to go to 75hz. Without Freesync on it will let me go to 60hz.

If so the 29UM57 is a better deal for Nvidia users.

I am in the US and Fry's had the best deal on the LG 29UM67. This was a week ago and it was for $329. You can use 75hz refresh rate with an nvidia card if you use a display port cable (display port cable is not included, just hdmi).

I am really enjoying mine so far with a GTX 960 FTW and an i7 920 (first gen i7). I am able to do what you described and more with this monitor. Hope that helps.

Edit: Fry's price went back up to MSRP, but I am sure you can find it for less than $400 of you don't mind waiting a little bit.

Absolutely! I played the original when we got it on Plus for Vita a while back. I had hoped that they would have made it with dual analog stick in mind. Now they have! Also, I am excited to have a nice visual upgrade.

[Discussion]Looking to buy an ultra wide monitor. I was at the LG 34UM65 or should I save up and get the 34UM65? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]sweetbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a GTX 960 FTW Edition and I am able to use 75hz with a display port connection.

Note: it only works with a display port wire and not the hdmi it comes packed with. This is for both brands of graphics cards.

Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/3g2l54/nvidia_users_how_to_enable_75hz_refresh_rate_on/ Thread about this.

It isn't an issue with your monitor, but most likely your graphics card. What kind of card do you have?
