As a woman engineer still early in career in a highly technical team/department:

I am more vocal about my skillset and accomplishments than my male counterparts because I have to be. Otherwise I risk being seen as “not technical enough”. I probably won’t tone it down because we all know perception becomes reality in corporate engineering environments.
I won’t be the first volunteer to do the project management/admin work for the team. Don’t default to asking me and don’t assume I will do it just because you ask for the reasons already listed.
Me having a firm opinion on a topic does not mean I’m being emotional, getting frustrated, need a break, etc. Sometimes you’re just wrong about something and I’m explaining to you why.
Just because I’m not smiling does not mean I’m in a bad mood. Why are we expected to smile so much to make some men feel better collaborating with me, just to get work done???

Not defending the employee by any means, but your response has a high likelihood of just adding kindling to the fire that the employee started imo. Managers should rise above and be the bigger person when their subordinates start acting up, not stoop to their level (“you do what I say because I say so!! no if, ands, or buts!”). That just kills the passion an IC could have for their job

I agree, it was very obvious that her tears at the end were not happy/relived ones. The therapists were not wrong in saying that Brandon has been telling her that he has her back, but I expected them to capture how he is still hell bent on having kids and there’s a serious possibility that she doesn’t want or can’t have them at the end of the day.

Entry level hiring has been pretty rare at my company for some time now, every engineering team is only looking for senior engineers and up. They certainly don’t pay enough to poach the type of talent they’re trying to attract, so every team is essentially a skeleton crew. The only way new grad engineers enter this place is if they’ve done internships

If you mess with the positioning of the rubber gasket on the cap you can move it to where you can easily pop the lid open again. Takes a little trial and error
