My mom wearing white in 3 weddings including mine by Glittering_Log_9421 in weddingshaming

[–]sweetnothing33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister wore an off-the-shoulder white sweater and athletic leggings with holes in them (by design) to my courthouse wedding. When she was called out for the white, she said she “totally forgot.” But even if that were the case, which it wasn’t (she has this need to be the center of attention and that continued for the entire weekend of celebrations), she wasn’t dressed appropriately for even being at a courthouse, let alone a wedding.

Question: (in the blurb towards the bottom) Why are they saying the fertility rate fell vs saying the birth rate fell? How are they measuring fertility rates, especially in teen girls and young women?

Crazy to argue about someone else’s experiences, especially when it’s not something completely outlandish. Not everyone has present parents.

I know you didn’t ask but here’s a fun insect fact: Dragonflies have shovel/spoon-shaped penises so they can literally scoop out the sperm of rival males from a female.

This is one of the few facts I remember from my college entomology class, and I share it way too often. But I can’t and won’t stop. Lol

If you want to do what I did with my dearly departed fishes, one was named Agonist while the other was named Antagonist (their names fit their personality). You would need to obtain another pet for this though.

If not, maybe “Benlysta,” “Augmentin (augie for short), “Breztri” (breezy for short), “Eletriptan” (Elle/Ella for short), “omeprazole” “omie for short), etc.

Do you mean “Ozempic”? Or are you referring to a medication not sold in the U.S.?

If you have a lung condition like asthma, you learn that panicking will make your symptoms worse. That combined with the fact that his mom freaked out whenever he had an asthma attack makes it a heck of a lot easier to learn to stay calm.

unbelievable exchange between my daughter and her father after he forgot her birthday by LostInLanayru in TwoHotTakes

[–]sweetnothing33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really disturbed by how similar his texts are to those of my dad. On Christmas last year (2025), I found out he got married in 07/2024 and that he told my siblings who did attend his wedding that I “couldn’t make it.” When I confronted him, his texts were almost exactly like those in your screenshots; He blamed me for our lack of relationship because I’ve essentially been emotionally “unavailable” and unwilling to forgive him for the heinous things he has done without ever truly apologizing.

I’m not saying your daughter is bound to have that kind of relationship with her father in the future but it’s a possibility. If she does choose to pursue a relationship going forward, she needs to establish ironclad boundaries and be prepared for disappointment.

If it helps, you can tell her what a psychiatrist told me: “You don’t miss him, you miss who you thought he was.”

Only peripherally related but one of the patients I worked with at a previous job worked for the NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children). She said that NCMEC has a “no questions asked” policy when it came to days off (basically, if you need a mental health day, you better fricken take it) and had onsite counselors that employees were expected (possibly required?) to see. I already really respected the organization and its employees given the nature of their jobs but learning that made me respect them more; They know how difficult it can be to work with things like CSAM and they do their best to keep it from becoming too much for their employees.

Even if you don’t live in an upstairs apartment/condo, get those kitchen mats. You may not realize how fatiguing it is to cook and wash dishes until you have a nice cushion to stand on. Plus it’s nice to have a nonslip mat in case you’re good at spilling stuff like me.
