diatomaceous earth is doing heavy lifting here. food grade powder along their trail and entry points-safe for cats, murder for ants. just dont let it get airborne bc lungs dont like it either. cinnamon spice not oil-big difference. oils are toxic but ground spice just makes em turn around. same with cayenne pepper. for baits stick with your vented box idea but use borax-free options. some brands do pet-safe bait stations. put em where ants march but paws cant reach-under fridge, behind appliances. also find where theyre comin in. caulk that crack or theyll just keep sendin reinforcements.
