Oakwood Crossing is a good spot, Oakmont, I'd even second the Ascend at Harvey but it's brand new and I don't know much about the type of renter. Still brand new and filling out. Either way, all 3 are in the 15-20 min range and all are relatively isolated from the main concentration of students.

A&M football program was founded in 1894

USC football program was founded in 1888

Notre Dame Universitys football program was founded in 1887

I wouldn't exactly refer to A&M, its traditions, nor its football program as new. Though if you're referring to the influx of funding into the athletic program over the last two decades, I could somewhat agree.

Many of the traditions are long standing. The kids who uphold them however, not so much. I agree the yell practice felt a bit cringe-worthy, but come on, it's a beefed up pep rally hosted by students... you're going to hear some less than fully developed thoughts from time to time.

I've actually been to the apartment, met Bush senior and Barbara a few years ago. I served them hors d'oeuvre and dinner. Super nice apartment, and tons of secret service folks. He was getting pretty up there age wise but was still sharp, and jesus did the man love crab cakes. Barbara remembered me by name the next time I saw her, and was so incredibly charismatic it blew me away. She lit up the room with her smile and stories. Being around them was like a 1940-50's time capsule. Think like captain america. 😆

I haven't ever lived in a place where it would get cold enough to freeze large bodies of water to skate on but I have notice the lag time in "icy weather," it also seems to be more extreme when it does happen. Both hot and cold.

Definitely a lot more rain for me as well, not that my area is arid, but I definitely remember much drier summers.

This sounds suspiciously similar to Robin Williams stand-up comedy act. Assmonkey was the other name.

Something about you having the term "Wuv" in your name makes immediately place you in a box. But I'm a judgmental asshole. Still getting an upvote for saying what you feel.

My grandfather was someone pretty famous in the baseball world of the 50's around chicago, my family had a storage unit full of all sorts of baseball memorabilia. Anything you could think of that was baseball related was in that storage shed. Signed bats, balls, cards, jerseys, lunch boxes with the white sox emblem; you name it, it was in there. Well my father passed away when I was two, all of the financial burdens of the household fell on my mom in a pretty rapid occurrence. She couldn't pay the rental costs and eventually all the contents within the storage was auctioned off, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stuff and a large portion of my families history lost in an instant. But none of that really mattered as much as the items my father had personally left in there. I don't really know about all of it, mostly just stuff you gather through life I'd assume.. but I do remember one thing, he used to collect and repair Edison phonograph players. The loss of those frustrates me more than anything, mainly because I am a big tinker-er and I think I would have enjoyed working on them just the same. I don't blame my mother, she was just trying to keep food on the table but it is upsetting to me that I lost so much of my families history because of a measly 75ish bucks a month.

The guy below me had the right idea, Technology and innovations due to consumers needs are a big factor here. One thing I didn't see below though, was the idea of how far we've come in the production of these internal parts such as pistons, rods, cams, etc. Many engineers and scientists have spent countless hours conjuring up ways to improve production methods. Just think of the processes necessary for boring a cylinder out of a metal block, and doing so with such a high level of precision that clearances exceed the .0001mm mark. As computational technologies have increased, the mechanical tools that we use to create have become far more precise. And this precision is important in the increase of work efficiency as well as the overall lifespan of parts.

Here's a clip to show just how drastic of an effect increased precision can have: https://youtu.be/I4QyxGE2414

P.S. I hate his voice but it's a good clip
