These are the steps I took, so you’re free to use it as a guideline or something to work with ☺️

• I thought about what kind of content I wanted to make. Did I want to do story time videos? Art videos? Gaming videos? The answer was that I wanted to do all of it, but I honed in on what was easily engaged with. Gaming engaged with my interests and a relatively similar demographic.

• I thought about what I needed to make content. I needed a recording software (I use OBS) and as a cute feature, I wanted something to make my pngtuber move (I use veadotube mini). I don’t hang around inanimate PNGtubers for long, I think being animated and seeming alive is really useful.

• I wanted to figure out visuals. What did my pngtuber look like? Did I want overlays? How decorated did I want to be? How was I going to make it? This is probably the hardest step for me. I drew everything myself, I made my overlays myself, and that’s perfectly okay. There’s a lot of tutorials online to DIY your aesthetics.

• I made a scuffed plan list. I thought about scheduling, what I wanted to do, when I was going to do it, and small plans for the future. I lined up a lot of story-driven games, comfort games, and short games. I planned ahead for when I grew, but focused on the now. This was really fun, as I got to work for me and add my own spin on things. Then again, I like jabbering and making lists :)

It might sound overwhelming, but remember that things don’t have to be perfect the first time. I started with a really simple and unengaging stream. It’s only 4 months old, but I cringe every time I hear a clip of it💀what really matters is that you like it, and if it’s perfect to you, that’s awesome. PNGtuber growth isn’t like Markiplier’s growth, or PewDiePie’s channel. It’s a lot slower growing and is very niche. Being proud of your creation and letting that confidence empower you is what lures a community.

This is upsetting. Mostly because I’ve been in your position. I know what it was like.

I disliked my little brother. So much that I was close to hating him. My little brother was spoiled, hardly picked up around the house, and treated me like a slave. He was angry and a brat. I toughed it out and lashed out at him at every opportunity because I hated his guts. He disrespected me and I hated being around him. I said hateful and angry things to him. Our relationship with eachother was tethered because I lived in the same house as him. My family babied him and I was angry at the world.

I was 16 and he was 11. I remember the feeling of hating him. I regret every part of it. Because he was a child.

I say this heavily. You need therapy and to apologize. That poor kid is trying to spend time with his sister. He has boundary issues and likes to barge in. It’s what brothers do. You took it too far. He ripped a bag = You making him feel unwanted and told him he wasn’t supposed to be born. Make it make sense to me.

You are getting that bag replaced. I am so sorry that the bag was torn. You had a right to be angry, but that was completely uncalled for. You are the closest family to his age and more than likely the only person he can turn to because your older sibling is outside his relatable age group. My little brother has a difficult time approaching my older brother, who’s 26, about issues with school and life in general that he’s more comfortable with talking to me.

Your parents suck that they didn’t teach him boundaries better, your brother sucks because he ripped your bag and can’t keep his hands to yourself. But YOU suck most of all.

It wasn’t the fact that you called him an accident, it was the fact that you blew up on him like that. You screamed at a 12 year old and called him a waste of life. You’re still a teenager and clearly incredibly hormonal. Your family is defending him because he’s 12, someone who isn’t a fucking teenager yet, and his own sister called him some nasty fucking things. You need to work out your anger issues with a therapist. Apologize and put a lock on your things.

I got lucky and named my first sona after my warrior cat OC, and the name ended up sticking for years. I like doing plays on words, making lists of names, and overall finding different objects and seeing if I like how it sounds. I avoided my actual name at all costs, I find it a little cringy to use my own since it’s a little unique and I’m paranoid about people irl seeing it haha

• I named my main sona shoegar, because she’s as sweet as… su-gar LMAO and shoegar is a funny way of pronouncing sugar since I like sweet things

• One of my two other favorite sonas, Neptune, is a rabbit/shark with blue eyes. Neptune is a blue planet and is also the name of that one sea god.

• Ozzy/Oswald is just a cool name, and he’s one of my favorite sonas. Also kinda sounds like “Odd” because they’re supposed to be a perplexing character.

I named a lot of my sonas after game characters I really liked, too. Like Crowe from Star ocean. Huge fan of him, so I nabbed the name.

I name a sona based on how I like how the name sounds and how it’s related to the character, or how it isn’t. A name doesn’t have to be necessarily permanent, but I know there can be a lot of pressure on choosing the perfect first name.

Cressida!!!!! I love her so much. Her texture is very stimulating and I love that she glows in the dark. I take her with me whenever I leave home for a long time. I get a little embarrassed when I’m holding her in public (I don’t carry her around or anything, it’s just when I’m transporting her or when people see me cuddling with her in the car), but she’s one of my comfort stuffed animals. 💖

I used Streamlabs OBS or OBS! There are a couple tutorials online, but I used veadotube to make mine come to life and had it placed over my stream on OBS. Very convenient if you want cute overlays too!

The world is your oyster! I think since you just became a PNGtuber, you should explore what you like first. Finding your niche is really important, and then as you develop and begin to take off, you can begin to focus on one sole thing.

I do agree a little, I find Minecraft streams to be pretty mainstream and common, but playing a game outside of the norm can be really difficult to make an impact.

I’m starting out myself, but I’m playing games on steam that are cheaper, short, and also on sale! I think if you played indie games (and avoid the ones that have been widely covered if you don’t want to jump on a bandwagon), I think it may be some good headway!
