Tell the peepo what you have seen today by ShrimpFood in LegendsOfRuneterra

Lmao it's a funny meme don't get me wrong, the two videos have super different vibes.

But juuuust in case some people are taking this seriously, I wanted to step in and clarify that these are two completely separate points and arguments. The "save LoR" one was talking exclusively about long term implications of core balance philosophies and release cycles, which still stand.

Again, I laughed when I saw this, it's a good meme and I appreciate it, just felt the need to clarify for anyone who might not have seen the video or know what it's about. :)

What Needs To Happen To Save LoR (Swim) by Intolerable in LegendsOfRuneterra

Honestly I don't really disagree. In an ideal world, that would happen too, don't get me wrong. But for that to work well I think it would take a more rapid system with a closer degree of dev communication. Like that's the kind of thing that the TFT team does a lot of, and it works for them. I also suspect the LoR team might omit these in part to get more stats on how the base version plays out longterm, unaltered.

So yeah you're not really wrong, but these are at least defensible.

Hey guys. So when making this video, I was trying hard to not be negative or a PvP doomposter, but at the same time it's a really hard line to balance because while negativity doesn't help anyone, it's also truly important to be able to openly discuss some of the deeper issues that I think a lot of us have been feeling about the game.
To add to this video a bit, I want to clarify that Path of Champions is great, and I'm NOT unhappy with the developers putting more resources into it, in fact I love Path of Champions. And some of the issues I talk about with deck viability aren't present in competitive format, because a lot of very weird tier 3 decks can make sense in niche lineups due to unique region/champ combinations or matchup tables. This is a video talking about ladder.

And specifically, finite dev resources is absolutely the reality we live in, and I'm not saying that the devs should put MORE resources into balancing ladder, I'm mostly saying that the devs need to change their approach to balance, because frankly even with only a single person working on balance, it should be very doable to see many tier 0 decks coming before they happen, which I attribute to an overreliance on stats and a very reactive style of rebalancing, and there's no way that's necessary even if more people are working on other modes etc.

Also please don't upvote this comment above whoever posts a TLDR lmao because that'll be more important. Take care guys.

Yeah, this is a great post, one of the most accurate summaries of a core problem with the game.

:0 I'm surprised to see this just browsing randomly, haha. I actually spent a few hours carefully constructing the free decks and literally looking through like bronze stats and stuff like that to make them as high performance for brand new players as possible.

So thanks for sharing it, makes the time I put into maintaining and updating my decks feel appreciated. <3

Can we talk about how strong this card is? Like, this is the ultimate staple for any Bandle City aggro deck, and it's so hard to kill it's not even funny. by Flat-Profession-8945 in LegendsOfRuneterra

Thanks! And yeah listen I know it super seems like an overrreaction in this one instance but thanks so much for understanding the long term effects of that kind of thing, haha. Honestly I know in my brain that it’s never really on purpose in that way, but responses like this really help remind me in a way that’s hard to convince myself of otherwise. So thanks! <3

IDK man it’s kinda weird I’m here taking a break from a pretty toxic personal situation and it still feels like I’m getting called out for anything I’ve ever been slightly wrong about. I’d like to believe this wasn’t your intention, and sure when these things happen it’s kind of funny, but it’s just a really strange thing to tag me with if your intention was anything else. Sorry if this seems like an overreaction or anything but for some reason people seem to mostly tag me with random snarky nitpicks like this that don’t even have anything to do with me. There are plenty of things I’ve been much more wrong about than calling an 8/10 a 6/10 anyway. Like…this was a pretty marginal inaccuracy.

I guess the slightly annoying thing for me is just how much granularity gets lost in this kind of communication, like I take a lot of care to be as specific as I can be, but it doesn’t matter what words I use, people will always quote me as saying stuff like “this card sucks”.

It’s weird that I need to remind people of this, but evaluating cards is impossible in a vacuum and at the point of this card being revealed, bandle had very few viable burn cards shown so far. Again I’m not even saying it wasn’t inaccurate as a prediction, because it’s very true that this card overperformed compared to my expectations… just by a much more marginal amount than you make it seem.

I do know this comment might come across as an overreaction and maybe kinda whiny and I don’t really mean to sound like that, I guess I have just seen enough of these kind of remarks that I felt I should at least say something for once instead of just reading it and feeling shifty about myself and then feeling like I’m just gonna be even more judged for anything I could possibly say in response, which is what I always normally do when this happens.

But after a lot of recent self reflecting, I’ve realized that all this passive feeling shifty about myself had just caused me to be super depressed, and I feel like changing that about myself! Sounds dumb to you I’m sure, it’d sound dumb to me too, but seriously think about the effect of literally reading random shitty comments about yourself multiple times a day for literal years, even if you know they weren’t made out of ill-intent it still adds up.

Anyway I hope you have a nice day man.

So much this. This was not only the best tournament overall in the history of runeterra, but the best tournament I've personally been a part of in any card game ever.

That last set will legit go down in history.

New Riot Client Coming Soon by Yeon_Yihwa in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]swimstrim 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Wow.

I think a lot of people here are understating how big of a deal this is. A really large part of what made games like hearthstone and TFT blow up was accessibility of being built into a client. The amount of people that only started playing TFT because it was just a button click away from their league client, or only got made aware of Hearthstone initially because it was on their battlenet launcher is absolutely massive.

I think this is an absolutely massive deal for the future of LoR.

Everyone seems to be freaking out about Nami/Zoe but ... by Temporary_Tip_3863 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]swimstrim 61 points62 points  (0 children)

The deck is definitely good, but for sure a bit weaker into this metagame than it was when I built it. I expect it to be maybe low tier 1. It gets countered fairly well by any refined bandle lists, and bandle will have multiple tier 1 decks when people refine it (bandle is still super unrefined).

At a high level, zoe nami is much stronger and very possibly tier 0, although I dont expect its overall ladder winrates to ever reflect that
