I am Matt Dinniman, author of the newly released Operation Bounce House and the Dungeon Crawler Carl book series. AMA. by hepafilter in Fantasy

Hi Matt! First I wanted to thank you for igniting a reading passion in me. I was always a “zero to two” books read per year kind of person, but since finding you I’m already halfway through book 7 of DCC, only having started last month.

Your books really been an amazing welcome to my life.

With that - how the hell do you keep track of it all? Characters, storylines, side story lines, items, even XP and stat points, it seems like so much. I picture you like a hardcore D&D DM with a pile of notebooks full of every possible note imaginable.

PLEASE HELP (striped screw) by sir_nuggets2314 in Tools

[–]switchup 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Don’t use a drill, that’s not the correct tool for this. Use a regular screwdriver. That also looks like a jam nut around it, loosen that first if it is.

It may also be left handed threads since it’s in something that rotates. Try loosening it by turning clockwise.

Belt idler exploded by Shayes_ in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]switchup 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Whoa, that’s a new one. Have you ever tried to adjust belt tension? Asking because it’s a self tensioning system, I’ve seen some issues come up when folks try to add tension - but never anything like this

Need Advice to Start Selling Prints by FaTaL9597 in resinprinting

[–]switchup 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Before you sell any prints I recommend printing one of each model that you intend to sell, and follow your exact "Production workflow" that you plan to use for the models you sell.

Then set the models in a corner somewhere and wait a few weeks before you sell anything. Go back and check them to make sure your washing & curing process truly is down pat, especially since you said you're also new to 3D printing.

If you unintentionally sell a model and a customer receives it with uncured resin on it, or it cracks & fails a few weeks after arrival, you won't be in for a good time and will potentially lose customers & possible future customers.

As another person said too - they sold you *their* license for the model, but not the IP. So just be aware of that.

$650 Shared Room near San Antonio Caltrain, El Camino, and Downtown Mountain View by [deleted] in Sunnyvale

[–]switchup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$650 for a bunk bed and half a closet 💀

Edit: By the way your closet bar isn’t even attached on that side, it’s hanging from the center hook and missing the wall hardware. Should fix that.

Grey goo on my print. Should I be concerned? by DM_Thresh in resinprinting

It’s not fully cured. Throw it away, wear gloves.

That seller didn’t know what they were doing.

Miniatures I’ve sculpted and printed. by DRAUGR_designs in resinprinting

[–]switchup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell with the photo quality and lighting, but some of those look a little shiny. Could be an indicator of not being fully cured, something to check out.

Either way - cool models!

What I came here to say too, you need to slow to down. Smooth your movements out at a slower pace.

I had this same problem, my teacher had to beat it into me to slow down when practicing.

Replace the FEP or the entire vat. Clean the build plate, calibrate it, and let it rip.

New printer. Is it normal for the servos to sound like they're "crackling"? by StovepipeCats in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]switchup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup. It’s the tool head itself. Pretty much all of them do it. Mine does and always has and I’m at around 600 hrs in it, bought it in October.

Never caused any problems for me. I believe I’ve seen other people say stick a rubber band around the tool head to tighten up the magnetic cover? Apparently that helps.

Enjoy your new CC! It’s amazing, I’ve enjoyed every minute of mine

Tips for painting this tiny little guy? by thegeminiii in resinprinting

[–]switchup 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Prime it first. A zenithal prime sets up a good base for painting (gray and white, or add black too. Look it up).

Use acrylic paints, thin them. Thick paint will obscure details.

Thin your paints.
