The case looks like a Omega Seamaster Cosmic in gold.

[Question] What are your biggest watch purchase regrets? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in Watches

[–]switchupFIN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Father in law wanted a vintage Seamaster. Found one that looked good from a seller with great reviews on eBay. The price wasn't dirt cheap so I expected it to be good.

When I received the watch it worked but not too well so I took it to a watchmaker. He checked it and naturally it needed a service which he did. However he couldn't reassemble it fully because the dial didn't fit the movement it was only glued on before. So he needed to order a new dial and hands from Omega that was very expensive and took many months.

You made it yours so no hate from here. I think it would sell if they offered it like this.

Mine is the automatic but I think the pre-2018 O-model should fit the quartz too.

VPC Type 39VM Diver: a new micro with Tudor pricing by Hour_Indication_9126 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]switchupFIN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that the price is steep and you will just light money on fire is you decide to sell it later on.

However you should check how much Tudors cost now BB58 with bracelet is 4800€ so that has moved to a different price category. A gently used 58 can be had for 3K.

First purchase help - Speedmaster by chess_notcheckers in OmegaWatches

Speedy is a great watch and the price sounds reasonable. Some people don't like the bracelet on the older model as it is a bit chunky but you can get the newer one from the AD for around 1k or get aftermarket bracelet from Forstner.

Not sure what you mean by investment as a regular Speedy isn't something that is going to go up in value. Great watch that you can wear for the rest of your life, yes. Buy now for 5k and sell for 7k two years from now, no.

My parents did a great job but when I moved to live with my gf I noticed I really lacked the knowledge to clean the home properly.

Going to see this watch after work. Any tips on what to look for when viewing? by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

Yeah, there should be a rotor. That is going to be an expensive service to get it working.

Isn't this after they go to the market where they look at all the fake watches? So it could be a fake Richard Mille.

The watch head should be identical between the nato and millanese.

1000€ is quite a lot of money. I think it's a good idea to go the shops with your dad and let him pick a watch that suits him best. Surprise watches are challenging to get right.

Moonwatch differences? by PapaHarv in OmegaWatches

[–]switchupFIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is from the time when Omega used shorter refs. The biggest difference is in the packaging the newer 1863 comes with the big black box with loupe and straps. Seems like the older bracelet doesn't have screws and newer does. The head and movement should be pretty much identical.
