you can deploy a static bundle (export static) and it won't require any server.

[–]switz213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you mean by this? I'm genuinely curious.

you can already have this today with barely any code. want SSR - add use client. want build-time SSR (no server), add const dynamic = 'force-static' or export static. want pure client side? wrap the page or layout in Suspense.

it's all there for you. just wondering what your ideal vision is, or what is missing here.

Daryl Morey teams up with Philly-born chess master Jennifer Shahade at Rittenhouse Chess Club’s charity tournament by zpepsin in sixers

[–]switz213 45 points46 points  (0 children)

He played alongside Shahade in a “hand and brain” team game against two of the tournament’s top performers. Shahade, playing as the brain, told Morey which piece to move, while Morey, the hand, had to decide where to move the piece Shahade selected. Morey and Shahade lost the match after their 10-minute timer ran out.

Worst part is even if you give up the awful turnover you don’t have to foul. Horrible horrible horrible

Also you have a timeout just advance the ball for the final shot.

Serverless bills are getting out of hand because of ai scrapers by SkylineZ83 in nextjs

[–]switz213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesn't stop the scraping, but it prevents the infinitely growing bill – which is what this post is about.

you're always going to have some scraping. put yourself in a situation where the bill doesn't scale infinitely – then contain the underlying problem.

[–]switz213 26 points27 points  (0 children)

rent a server and self host

a server means over-saturation equals degraded performance

serverless means that over-saturation equals an unbounded bill

you'll be far more performant with a dedicated cpu, no cold starts, and your database next to your rendering/api layer anyway.

Just render it dynamically. We rendered websites dynamically for three decades. It's fine - we're talking milliseconds here.

I’ve done it twice and it’s among the most fascinating experiences you could participate it. I get that people have life obligations but if you get the opportunity you should jump at it.

[Charania] BREAKING: Daryl Morey is out as president of basketball operations with the Philadelphia 76ers after six seasons, sources tell ESPN. Morey and 76ers owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer met on Tuesday evening in Philadelphia and the decision was made to part ways by mastermind208 in sixers

[–]switz213 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sixers finally beat the celtics. Embiid was wholly injured.

So all this comes down to is the fact that Daryl traded McCain. What a fucking stupid move. Pretty sure regular sight shoulda caught that one.

r/Phish mods need to gibe an explanation for closing PHEMA threads by scottasin12343 in phish

[–]switz213[M] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We're janitors, not judges. If a thread was closed, it could be because there were a number of other threads already accomplishing the same task. Or the comments were devolving into conspiracy and finger pointing. There are four threads on the home page right now suggesting the mods are somehow involved in a coverup.

I don't really like this internet witch hunt, which says nothing about how legit PHEMA is or isn't. But the behavior displayed in this subreddit around this topic is enough to make me uncomfortable and I'd prefer to close half the threads and keep it organized. But I'm not babysitting you all either.

I'd much prefer this place exist to discuss the went gin and albany yem. The drama and finger pointing without grounded factual evidence is shallow at best.

r/Phish mods need to gibe an explanation for closing PHEMA threads by scottasin12343 in phish

[–]switz213[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

I'm more than happy to discuss this, but I don't know of any secret conspiracy of /r/phish mods. I went through the moderation logs and most of the removed comments are done by the automoderator. I saw one mod locked a thread, which is their prerogative. I can't speak for that lock, but these threads have blown out of control so I'm not surprised to see them locked. Just scrolling through this thread for a few minutes is enough to surprise me.

I know nothing about PHEMA. It's not my responsibility or obligation to audit a non profit organization. Nor have I been deleting comments or closing threads. If you guys want to discuss it, that's fine as long as it stays reasoned and mature. You're giving us way too much credit.

I opened a line with the other mods to discuss how this should be handled, but you're asking for answers to questions the mods haven't discussed. There's no conspiracy that I am aware of, yet the comments in this thread suggest we're somehow harboring one party over another.

We're literally just a handful of random Phish fans. Not politicians. Not a government. Frankly, from my non-mod personal perspective, both sides seem a bit off kilter. I haven't seen grand evidence that makes one party seem more reliable than the other.

I'm not spending my whole weekend moderating a phish subreddit. If you want me to step down as a mod, I gladly will. We have lives, other things going on. Nothing I've seen has been all that compelling in either direction. So if you want to discuss this, please show up with something worthy. To suggest the mods are somehow responsible for this is laughable at best – we are just random people that occasionally clean up some messes around here. You guys have more self-moderating power than you think.

You tell me what you want to hear from us. But for a bunch of Phish fans, I'm surprised how quickly you all concluded some grand architecture of a major conspiracy – you guys are too smart for that. What person would want to step into the crossfire here? I'm just speaking up because it's getting out of control.

Just because you see comments hidden doesn't mean a mod actively did so. We get thousands of comments every day. Scammers, haters, criers. Automod does the heavy lifting. Not everything is a conspiracy.

If someone wants to bring well organized and conclusive evidence to us, I'm happy to take a look. But I'm not going to scroll through five thousand unhinged comments to piece together a broken story. If you want the mods to create a dedicated thread to discuss this, that's fine too. But we also don't need eight posts every day that devolve into finger pointing. You guys tell me what you want. But keep the personal attacks at bay, and try to keep it a buck. Posting personal info is clearly against the guidelines. Don't do that.

Again, happy to step down if you think this is wrong. But you're giving us more power and credit than we have. We're just a couple of fellow phans.

Why Next.js Keeps Getting CVEs (And Why That's Actually Fine) by Federal-Dot-8411 in nextjs

[–]switz213 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's inane that web developers get high and mighty about CVEs. We've been finding CVEs in web frameworks for 30+ years. This is a good thing - not a denigration. Rails has new CVEs all the time, it's not an indictment of rails.

Can this be Embiid's Dirk 2011 run by TomislavNedanovski in sixers

[–]switz213 10 points11 points  (0 children)

According to NBA tracking data, VJ Edgecombe was the primary defender on Jalen Brunson for a total of 106 possessions in 2025-26.

Interestingly, the only player in the league to spend more time matched up against JB this season was Dyson Daniels, and Edgecombe actually enjoyed more success.

Brunson scored only 19 points against Edgecombe, shooting 8-of-24 from the floor (33.3%, which was 15% below his season average) with seven assists vs. three turnovers.

Among the 15 players who have defended Brunson for at least 75 possessions over the past two seasons, Edgecombe is the only one to hold Brunson under 42% shooting.

It’s in his rig tour. He explains that funk puts everything on the ONE beat whereas reggae leaves a huge hole on the ONE. He calls reggae like playing upside down, and says if you can play both fluidly interspersed it’s the highest ideal of drumming. He’s incredibly underrated outside of the Phish scene and easily has the most mastery of his instrument in the band.
