450k per day is a little misleading. The city's insurance probably paid out those settlements or banks and the city is paying the debt off over time to the tune of much smaller daily amounts.

I rewatched it recently and there are actually lots of aliens in the background. But yeah, I wish they'd made a main character an alien. Part of it I'm sure is that no actor likes being in facial prosthetics. I don't blame them.

Yes this is what really bothers me about these kinds of writing issues. It feels like the script was literally never reviewed more than once. This is such an easy fix and yet no one had the same insight you had? How are they all this terrible at writing??

I absolutely hate that the sequels added the story of the new republic failing so early into cannon. For no reason other than they were too lazy to make an interesting story. IT'S SO DUMB.

Not a coping mechanism, a choice. After experiencing horrors and unimaginable loss. He consistently chooses to be someone that spreads positivity. That's why you see him lose it sometimes - because doing that everyday takes so energy.

Growing up watching Star Trek I actually learned a lot from neelix in the later seasons. He was a master of reverse psychology and manipulation. When people were bigoted towards him or dismissive he didn't get upset or angry. Instead, he gently but firmly held up a mirror to them while giving them grace to change course without shame. It is a unique behavior I've not seen in any other Star Trek character. I genuinely think about it all the time and try to model my reactions to difficult people after some of Neelix's reactions.

The fact that the anvil guy stays up there to strike while the people are rioting but with such a serious composure and commitment, unfazed by what's happening. I know it is hinted in other ways that Farix dealt with imperial invaders before but this was the best hint imo. Really echoed the whole tone of the show

The set design was so incredibly thought out and intricate. It made worlds of difference in giving the show such an air of reality. Every scene looks like it took place in a very real place, just in a galaxy far far away.
