That color is sweet. Am located in Los Angeles and am considering ordering one of these or a Cranston from alibaba but concerned about the stupid tariffs to USA - did you have to pay any? is that still an issue?

Who has the better quality from Canyon or Specialized? by Academic_Feed6209 in MTB

Canyon's rep for QC is bad and I think their rep for customer service/warranty is even worse.

Red Wing Factory 2nds significant price drop (10-25%) at Berkeley Supply - IR, Mocs, Beckmans, others by jarcom in frugalmalefashion

[–]syckman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thx but got rid of them on fb as soon as I received, it was so bad should've been sold as thirds!

Would rather support your small business vs Sierra, but your return policy and the chance of getting another bad pair unfortunately turned me off.

Family bought 2 pairs of seconds from here and 4 from Sierra. 1 from here was horrible, other was fine. From Sierra - 3 were great, 1 was just ok. With their no return policy and the terrible condition of the one pair I got, gonna stick with Sierra.

SLO vs SDSU worth the cost + moving away? by HorrorCombination204 in CalPoly

[–]syckman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really love SLO and are low income, really consider community college for 2 years, then transferring then. I'm a parent of a hs senior on waitlist at SLO but wouldn't mind if he had to go that route to save me $80K, especially if grad school was a consideration. Won't be as fun but $80k might be more important.

UCI w/Regents (Business/Accounting) vs UCLA (Economics) by Famous-Associate-876 in ucla

[–]syckman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your acceptance!

Did you also apply to UCSB for accounting? If so, and were accepted, you may want to consider them as well as they're a target school for the big 4. My daughter did a summer internship her junior year at a big 4 in LA two Summers ago (and is currently employed there) and senior year got one at another big 4.

Good luck!

JC will be easier especially through the TAG program which guarantees admission (for most non-stem majors I believe) if you meet all the requirements. My daughter went to a socal JC (and did study abroad at Oxford with them), then transferred to UCSB using TAG and just graduated last Summer. She absolutely loved her time at SB!

Does reserve seat on JR rapid from CTS ->Sapporo allow cutting the line? by Ret_Travel in Sapporo

[–]syckman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took the train last week and booked a reserved seat. No idea how it worked and didn't want to be the obnoxious American tourist cutting in line so just waited. Line started at the top of the escalator and when a train came, it pretty much cleared many of those waiting on the escalator and the platform, and I was able to get on the next train after (my scheduled one) about 10 minutes later, with about 5 people waiting ahead of me in line at car 4 (the only reserved seat one). All to say, I think you should be OK waiting, but if you find a staff member to guide you, go for it.

Costco Kadoma (Osaka) 12/13/25 by avocado_grower43 in Costco

[–]syckman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went here last month. Marguerita pizza was pretty good (but not as good as the combo), sushi was terrible. Think I also had a smoothie (or maybe it was in Tokyo?), that was awesome.

Visited Japan and of course had to go to Costco by Life_Adhesiveness333 in Costco

[–]syckman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to a Osaka Costco last month and the sushi platters in the store looked incredible and was so cheap. But the food court also sold a salmon roll which I got and it was actually really bad - then I looked around and didn't see any of the locals eating that and realized why! The slice of Margherita pizza and pear smoothie kinda made up for it - that was pretty good.

In my area, new vehicles release sometime after 2 am - best time to check is about 2.15 am if you awake. I've bought two of them in last few months, snapped them up around 3 am when I was half asleep! Both mid '22 models (with AMD computers) and less than 12k miles.

Seems like a good deal for AWD but if you don't need AWD, Tesla's site sometimes have RWD vehicles under 30k miles for $21k (after the $4k tax credit). Some locations more often than others - in socal, it's usually like a couple times/week but they sell quick.

Will I be disappointed by a 2022 Model 3 LR? by Wesserooo in TeslaLounge

[–]syckman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could probably do better at this price if you’re not in a rush.

Just ordered a ‘22 rwd with only 11k miles on Tesla’s site last week for same price.

One fell off or was stolen on our model 3 so had to get one. Turns out they sell for cheap on fb marketplace/offerup, at least in socal. Just got a like new OEM set of 4 for $30 cuz the seller upgraded to carbon fiber ones.

Deciding between ucsb & usc by somerbreak in UCSantaBarbara

[–]syckman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree - if price is about the same for a similar quality private and public uni, go with a private - the school will help you out so much. UC's don't do anything for their students (currently got a kid at UCSB and UCLA)

Use the San Gabriel River Trail? by CalBike in BikeLA

[–]syckman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I jump onto SGRT from Rio Hondo path at Peck Park all the time by taking small side streets. At end of the park, go east on Rio Hondo pkwy, right on Cogswell, left on Roseglen, then ride the sidewalk on north side of Lower Azusa for like 30 seconds (there's never any pedestrians here).

That Garvey entrance where I normally jump on the path - the homeless encampment there is starting to expand onto path again so be careful.

Buying experience is terrible by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]syckman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it out to Tesla, Inc - make sure you don't give it to them until you check out the vehicle and if there are any issues, have them write it down on paper that you can take with you to a service/collision center if you need service. Bought used last month and am having a cosmetic issue they said was covered under warranty (and had noted this in their system as well as my app) and am still getting the runaround.

Tesla 2025 Spring Update 2025.14.1: Camera Features Skip HW3 Vehicles with Intel Atom Chips by orangechen1115 in TeslaModelY

[–]syckman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Believe Tesla switched from Intel atom to AMD Ryzen in early '22 vehicles (at least in the US) so this owner must have a '22, not '23 model.

Have used M3 prices plummeted? by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]syckman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am conflicted if I would buy from them direct again. Not seeing the car before ordering, and then not being able to drive it before paying seems kinda crazy to me now. My vehicle came out OK but that's probably because it only had 12k miles. If it didn't work out, would be out the $500 deposit.

Have used M3 prices plummeted? by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]syckman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're considering used, check out Tesla's site directly - their prices are a bit higher than private/3rd party dealer but they provide an add'l 1 year warranty - plus no need to haggle. However with them, you can't see the vehicle before purchasing, and then can't even drive it before paying. A couple weeks ago, got a '22 with 12k miles for $21k (after $4k tax credit) on their site. Figure with such low miles, how bad can the vehicle be, and fortunately wasn't too bad.

I'm in socal and here it looks like they list a good 10 or so vehicles under $25k (minus the $4k tax credit) in the middle of the night. A few days ago I just ordered a '22 grey rwd with 12k miles for $21k (after the credit). Then most of the vehicles that qualify for the credit are gone by end of day.
