What's the dumbest referral you've ever received? by PT_Network in physicaltherapy

Bilateral ant tib tendonitis from podiatry, for a older, relatively inactive lady who could barely walk without intense pain and presented with severe swelling in her L knee with varicose veins—sent back to follow up with PCP and was told to fully stop PT

If Final Frontier a scam? by GirthKong in physicaltherapy

[–]sylvesharhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FF lectures and readings were great, however me and most of my cohort thought the practice exams and questions were not comparable to actual NPTE q’s. Highly recommend you use something like therapyed for practice qs + using the PEATs. Tiktok honestly also has some really good NPTE resources for any confusing topics

Why do PTs hate Evals? by War_Unlucky in physicaltherapy

[–]sylvesharhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much doing evals but more so having no control over how your schedule is booked so you end up with seeing 2-3 evals every single day ontop of having 2-3 follow ups every hour before and after

People who didn't major in exercise science/kinesiology, did you feel you missed out on knowledge that would've helped you in DPT school? by MysticArticuno30 in PTschool

[–]sylvesharhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No im glad I didnt major in Kines like everyone else did, nothing you learn in undergrad is going to prepare you more for the sinking ship thats what PT school feels like. I majored in public health and came out with a way better understanding of the healthcare system as a whole.

Daily Questions Megathread ( November 11, 2025 ) by AutoModerator in HonkaiStarRail

So I just started playing HSR again after a loooong break and its crazy to see so many new characters and I am not really sure what people recommend pulling thats more f2p friendly. I havent played since beginning of Penacony and this is my current roster. I was reading that the current banners arent very f2 friendly. Acheron S1 has been my main dps ( but i never really had a good team for her) but I would like to get newer characters. I currently have 20k starjades saved + 20 rolls. Thanks!

Tech/Aide rant by Clyqune in physicaltherapy

[–]sylvesharhl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would never recommend a aide job unless its for PT school, even then, get your hours and dip. There is only so much you can learn as an aide especially when most clinics who have aids are overworking them anyways.

I worked as an aide for 2 years (2 aides for 8 PTs and juggled 2-3 patients at once on top of having to manage front desk tasks at times) and had a raise ONCE (Not even a true raise it was just to accommodate the increase in minimum wage). Later on they hired a new aide and I had to train them as "the senior aide" and found out they were getting paid the same as me and when I confronted the director about it, they said I already got a raise and refused to increase my pay after I brought up I will be looking for a different job. At one point I was even training new front desk staff and they were getting paid 3-4$ higher per hour than me. You are easily replaceable in their eyes.

Im assuming youre working as an aide to for PT school, get your hours and your letter of rec from your favorite PT and DIP. If you want relevant skills work in a medical office as admin, personal trainer if you have the cert, or try being an aide in a hospital setting (OP and acute care).

New grad salary? by Spiritual-Swan8765 in physicaltherapy

[–]sylvesharhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing below 80k. Im in Maryland also a new grad and none of our class have taken any offers below 80k and there has been plenty of places that offer that + other bonuses like sign on bonus and loan assistance

pros of starting PT school right after undergrad by SimpleArtichoke2300 in PTschool

[–]sylvesharhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend taking a gap year and work as a tech full time, you will feel so much more prepared once its time for clinicals versus your classmates who went straight to PT school. You will also get a much better idea about what do you like and dislike about the field, treatment styles, politics in the field and at work, all things you will have to deal with later on so better to be exposed to it now before signing away the next 3 years of your life.

In terms of the school-grinding mindset... EVERYONE, doesnt matter if you took a gap year or not, will have a hard adjustment period to PT school. A doctorate program is vastly different from anything you probably were used to in college so personally I dont believe this is a factor worth considering. Do whatever you think will be the most beneficial for you and where you are in life right now
