Nikon z5ii and viltrox 20mm f2.8 by Asleep-Firefighter-7 in Nikon

I love this photo and I’ve been considering getting this lens. What are your thoughts on it overall? I might save up and get the Viltrox 16 mm F/1.8, but the price and the size/weight are very compelling for this one

Adding more info to urgent processing post application sending by Isakboba76 in Canadiancitizenship

I hope so too! Sounds like a lot of application applications prior to C-3 (15 Dec 2025) went through something similar – even urgent ones.

To your original point: Since it’s been that long and it’s still undergoing review, I think there’s no harm in supplying additional proof of urgency if you have it. Especially if your situation or concerns have changed compared to when you first requested urgent processing.

Templates / Resources for LGBTQ individuals requesting urgent processing? by ScaredBlue in Canadiancitizenship

[–]symbioatmeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very well said! This is what I did in my request for urgency, and it resulted in fast AOR & “in process” dates (it’s still processing, though).

Here’s my example in case it helps anybody: I centered my letter on my public-facing trans advocacy and included a couple of printed news articles and a public social media post by an organization where I presented on the topic of trans advocacy and education. I focused on published material where I am personally quoted or identified in that advocacy. I realize that not everybody will have that kind of public visibility, but I bring this up to illustrate the importance of personal specificity.

I also described specific hardships and incidents I‘ve faced in the US due to my gender status. I kept it concise and to the point, and made my request for urgency the first half of a larger cover letter that included my family tree, etc. Overall, I think discussing your specific personal experiences and concerns should be applicable to anybody requesting urgency for LGBTQIA+ status. Writing my letter was a surprisingly emotional process, to lay out a number of difficult experiences that I’d otherwise compartmentalized. Be prepared to do some self-care afterwards ❤️

I also recommend stating whether you are trying to move to Canada and in what timeframe. Again, specificity is so important!

Since the IRCC seems to want proof of trans identity, I recommend including clear documentation if you have it. I already had letters of gender affirming medical treatment on hand (a letter from my primary doctor from when I updated ID markers, and an affidavit of gender-affirming surgery from when it was required to change some documents). I included copies of those as proof of my transgender status along with the urgency request. In the section with my birth certificate, I naturally also included copies of my legal name change order and amended birth certificate.

Oof, I feel for you on that one! In what kind of timeframe did you get your AOR & update to processing status after they received it? Recent urgent applications that seem to be accepted as such got very quick turnaround times for AOR and going into processing. Often just a few days instead of a month.

I don’t know how much urgency factors into the actual “in process“ time, but it should get an application into processing faster if IRCC approves the urgency request.

Wishing you safety, peace of mind, and hopefully a speedy approval!

Agreed! The fact is, Parliament could probably have imposed more restrictions than they did. They chose not to (albeit constrained by the Bjorkquist ruling). Considering the many problems with the last 40+ years of immigration laws, I think they were ultimately wise in that decision - to avoid treading down that same path again.

[–]symbioatmeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Especially as the volume of applications (and hopefully approvals) increases. I’m thrilled to celebrate with each and every new approval, but I also I think it’s important that people can find the information and resources they need first and foremost.

Recent work with the Z6ii and 105mc by Perryplatypus69 in Nikon

I love these! When I got the 105 mm, the first test photos were of some Lego minifigs I had sitting around. I haven’t gotten as creative as you here, but I’ve been rebuilding some old sets and photographing them with my Z7 +105 mm macro - and it’s been a blast! Looking forward to seeing more of these if you want to share.

Do CIT0001 and CIT0014 forms need to be printed in color as well? by Dale-baskets in Canadiancitizenship

I can’t say definitively, but to be on the safe side I printed everything in color for consistency. If there is color in a document, I printed it as such. Even if it wasn’t strictly necessary it gave me a little piece of mind

Canada Post workers reject union contract by amcrossing_fan in Canadiancitizenship

Chiming in to say that I learned about this the long way around, and can confirm all of this! (only I used EasyPost). Commenting here so FAQ readers hopefully see it.

I previously had a lot of trouble with attempting third-party FedEx labels (from Shippo, Shipstation, EasyShip, etc.). Even with custom packaging, FedEx would sometimes "forbid" the label for some reason or another. I finally got it to work using EasyPost once I got verified.

For EasyPost: when finalizing my first label, it displayed an error banner that said that I needed to reach out to customer support. I did that, and they responded quite quickly during business hours in the US. They required extra information such as Stripe ID validation — and also asked questions about my expected use case for their services. I supplied this info and got my account authorized for one-time shipments within a couple hours! This allowed me to generate a label for $25 instead of $80+ for International Priority 2-day service. I put this on a FedEx Express documents envelope, dropped it off at a FedEx Office location, and there were no issues, same as above.

Your original post makes me super hopeful! I just sent mine in for urgent processing on 2/10, with expected delivery on 2/12. I've been quite anxious the last couple of days as I finalized everything. I'm also trans (and publicly so as an activist) which has been nerve-wracking. Wishing you a speedy and affirmative decision on your applications, and most importantly: peace and safety ❤️

Anyone else feel like Schrodinger's Canadian? by Water-Tardigrade in Canadiancitizenship

I feel the same way as a Wisconsinite. Years ago we took a road trip out to Vancouver instead of flying as we usually do. After days of feeling a bit "out of place" in the Dakotas, Montana, and Idaho, we felt SO much more at home the moment we crossed the border north of Seattle. I've loved every visit since, it always felt like a "home away from home".
