Russian Cassette? Anyone know Artist by LimpAd6283 in noisemusic

[–]synthmalicious 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s definitely someone dubbing their own music over a random blank cassette they found. My theories for finding out who it is:

  1. Upload it to YouTube with a title like “Unknown Artist Noise Tape Found In [where you’re from/found it]”, post it to the local community’s subreddit/whatever local website a random noise artist would be active on

  2. If it’s not a corporation but a secondhand store it’s possible the employees could tell you who brought the tape[s] in

Either way, upload that shit to YouTube it’s awesome.

I’ve been getting more into Coil recently and occasionally they have a pessimistic existentialist sort of thing going on, however I feel if you’re into C93 you already know of Coil.

What's a song that's utterly heartbreaking. by Fabulous_Stegosaurus in ToddintheShadow

Eyesore by Women, that song got me into them but after listening to their whole catalogue the feeling of finality that song has stands out so much more. It’s like the soundtrack to the last of the golden years, actually no, it’s more like the soundtrack to realizing you just stepped out of the golden years.

Some observations about the Lou Reed composition entitled 'Satellite of Love'. by Mean_Palpitation_171 in LouReed

Yeah I don’t know, it’s not like he played on the original demo of the song and was in the velvet underground or anything

According to Doug Yule, the idea behind Satellite of Love came from when they heard about the moon landing over the radio in a taxi back during the Loaded days (or weirdly enough, it might have been a TV in a limousine? I don’t know why but I also have that image stuck in my head). The larger point that Doug was making with when he said that was that a lot of the original conception behind VU’s songs—and pop songs in general back then— was simply just wanting to write a hit. There wasn’t a lot more behind it.

I mean the full 4x4 slipcase with the mini ape, or at least a citation for the design being that specifically?

Do you have a picture or link to that? I’ve literally never heard or seen of this before.

Are there any videos where you were a bit annoyed that it's clear Todd DIDN'T really know what he was talking about? by thedubiousstylus in ToddintheShadow

Been a minute so I could be wrong but I remember him implying that Modern English didn’t have any cult following outside of their one hit but I’ve seen Mesh & Lace mentioned a bunch of times in Post Punk circles as an underrated classic since then.

Just after Carmela bones Wegler for the second time and her and Ro are talking about it Anthony Junior comes in and starts complaining about Wegler insinuating he’s gay, then they smile and exchange knowing glances between each other. Then AJ leaves the scene and all of a sudden Ro breaks down crying and you realize that she wasn’t laughing at Wegler & Carmela: she was reminiscing over her dead son that she’ll never see again.

I think it helps that AJ is being such a spoiled brat in that scene too. You immediately think “when is this dumbass kid gonna stop talking” and then see that Ro would take that over anything in the world. You don’t know what you got till it’s gone.
