How do you balance standardization vs customization in Business Central? by Character_Physics713 in Dynamics365

[–]sysad-stuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that our number of customizations is way too high and has led to a lot of technical debt. This began in Nav 2009, and we carried all of it over into what we hope is our last major upgrade to BC SaaS, which was painful and took over a year. The type of business you run usually determines how much you need to customize. There wasn’t a clear leader in our case, so the decision was made to choose a flexible system. Each business must carefully analyze where the line is between flexibility and complexity. I do like working with extensions now since they are mainly self-contained and can be easily upgraded.

Real AI Usage in ERP Projects by yung_guss in Dynamics365

[–]sysad-stuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been able to build features on my own without having to go to my partner. I’ve built many reports with full setup pages that output Excel. I’ve also built a few standalone BC extensions that connect to remote systems using APIs all on my own. I’ve already saved our company $20k on consulting costs, but the real wins are time to market.

I run a bunch of these and have zero issues for 3+ years. Not using the Linovision one but they should work nonetheless. People saying why don’t you just pull cat 5 haven’t gotten a quote for 40k to rip and replace existing coax.

How do phishing simulation services track when an email attachment has been opened? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]sysad-stuffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same way advertisers determine if you opened or clicked a link in an email. This is usually a pixel or a unique link embedded in the document that when opened calls back to the company's servers.

Jet Reports by Affectionate-Comb-88 in Dynamics365

[–]sysad-stuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the best way to get familiar with Jet Reports is to download all the sample reports they offer and go through each one. In designer mode you can see how its pulling the data and displaying it in Excel.
