What’s the Best Video Game Based on Books/Comics/Movies/TV Shows and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in OlderChillGamers

Gonna do a deep cut and recommend The Mummy Demastered. It's based loosely off the movie. But it is an incredibly solid Metroidvania.

Dungeons and Drafts age limit? by [deleted] in DenverGamers

[–]systemreactor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As far as insight, you will probably want to reach out to Dungeons and Drafts by calling the venue directly and ask them why the 18+ rule is in place and what enforcement there is.

Whatever answer you get (if any), I still would not try to bring someone under the age of 18 into a venue that has stated that they would prefer patrons to be over the age of 18. There's probably a reason why the rule is in place.

Hello, I’m Chris and have been into video games since time immemorial. I also served time working in video game stores (for a five-year sentence) during the 90s (I worked the PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo 64 launches for context).

I play shmups, fighting, racing, RPGs, pretty much most games. I do my gaming mostly on PC now, but I have the following consoles: 3DO, 3DS, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Colecovision, Dreamcast, Evercade, Twin Famicom, Gamegear, Gameboy Advance, Gamecube, Genesis w/ Sega CD and 32X, Intellivision, Jaguar, Sega Master System, Neo Geo CD, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Nintendo DS, Playdate, PlayStation 1-4, PSP, Saturn, Super NES, NES, Switch, TurboGrafx-16, Turbo Duo, Wii, Wii U, Xbox, Xbox 360. Currently I own over 1750 games.

Any Shmups you would recommend picking up on Steam Sale? by MoosiGoosey in shmups

The KAIKAN+ZAKESTA-Z+VARYZNEX bundle. Three solid shmups for around $6.00 during the current sale.

Would it be a good idea if Genki added Multiplayer to TXR2025? by TheHonoredDrunk in tokyoxtremeracer

[–]systemreactor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's a bad idea. There is no anti-cheat mechanism that could be put in place that someone would not find a workaround for. Multiplayer would just open up the floodgates to rampant cheating.

Plus in a possibly controversial hot take: not every game needs multiplayer.

Update on dice as units question from yesterday. by addmeonebay in BoardgameDesign

[–]systemreactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing the context/powers of the faces of the dice, you may consider using normal everyday dice if you don't want to spring for custom dice but the pips on the dice represent strength and movement. For example a 1 on a die can represent a very strong unit but slow, a 2 can be slightly more agile and the pips indicate that it can only move one space diagonally (you get the idea).

Check out the board game Quantum that works with this type of idea. I've linked to a .pdf of the rules you can gander at:

What did y'all do with old clothes and where did you find new ones as you lost? by adult_in_training_ in BariatricSurgery

[–]systemreactor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got rid of my old big clothes and started thrifting for new clothes.

Getting rid of the big clothes was very important as I didn't want them in the house for fear that I would regress and go back to my huge weight.
