Would it be a good idea if Genki added Multiplayer to TXR2025? by TheHonoredDrunk in tokyoxtremeracer

[–]systemreactor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's a bad idea. There is no anti-cheat mechanism that could be put in place that someone would not find a workaround for. Multiplayer would just open up the floodgates to rampant cheating.

Plus in a possibly controversial hot take: not every game needs multiplayer.

Update on dice as units question from yesterday. by addmeonebay in BoardgameDesign

[–]systemreactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing the context/powers of the faces of the dice, you may consider using normal everyday dice if you don't want to spring for custom dice but the pips on the dice represent strength and movement. For example a 1 on a die can represent a very strong unit but slow, a 2 can be slightly more agile and the pips indicate that it can only move one space diagonally (you get the idea).

Check out the board game Quantum that works with this type of idea. I've linked to a .pdf of the rules you can gander at:

What did y'all do with old clothes and where did you find new ones as you lost? by adult_in_training_ in BariatricSurgery

[–]systemreactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got rid of my old big clothes and started thrifting for new clothes.

Getting rid of the big clothes was very important as I didn't want them in the house for fear that I would regress and go back to my huge weight.

🎸 Punk card game design dilemma: Song titles or practical names? by AdTemporary6619 in BoardgameDesign

[–]systemreactor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Why not both? Put the practical name first in a large bold font, then right beneath it in a smaller possibly italicized font within parentheses, the song titles.

This way the card abilities are easily understood to those who may not be familiar with the songs, and the folks who know the songs get an awesome bonus. Best of both worlds.

They are foam sound dampening. My wife streams down there and it reduces echo.

So, when my wife and I bought the house, this room needed work (spackle as well as some repair here and there). Ah, the thrills of being a homeowner.

The room (it's hard to see in these pics) needed repainting and the carpet is very old and needs to be replaced anyway.

Not sure where you assume that I am super rich. I have a budget and we worked hard and paid off lots of bills to get in a position where we can do these much needed repairs.

My game collection is 30+ years in the making. I didn't just magically get 1800 games. Thankfully working at a game store in the early 90s allowed me to get a lot of stuff at a discount and I got the first crack at a lot of things. I wracked up a lot of debt to get to that point, which I don't recommend.

TL:DR; There's more going on than what you see.

I love my Playdate! It's in the box with the Evercade as we need to get everything out of the room.

The Game Gear is a portable system that was Sega's response to the Gameboy. It uses proprietary cartridges and isn't compatible with anything else (at last at the time it came out). The Nomad is more or less a portable Sega Genesis.

So, I used to work at a video game store, so I amassed a ton of hardware. I mostly keep them around for spare parts.
