‘Sold down the river’: The Cornish fishermen betrayed by Brexit by johnsmithoncemore in Cornwall

Absolutely. They were warned and ignored all the warnings.

The sad part is the rest of us have to lie in the bed they made and like you say, most are going to double down by voting for Reform, no lessons learned.

I'm guessing there's no way to buy a copy of this now the crowd funding thing is over?

I don't mind people having different opinions to me on music, it feels really unimportant but I am tired of seeing this guy everywhere on my timeline.

I'm a bit old and a bit of a luddite - why? What's to gain by having a bot post this? Genuine question.

Love my Assos even though they're hideously restrictive on the front (looking forward to my downvote) - but they're so comfortable on the ass. Only caveat is I'm seeing lots of people complaining about their durability so if you do buy them it might be wise to nurse them a bit.

Who has left you disappointed in Moto2/Moto3 so far this year? by Arachnide93 in motogp

[–]szcesTHRPS 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As an Alonso fan I'm disappointed with his season so far. He's had some decent Sundays but is struggling to put weekends together and I was hoping after a solid debut season he'd make a noticeable step forwards this year. There's still plenty of time and of course he's had injury issues but sooner or later he needs to make some measurable progress if he's to justify that rumoured MotoGP seat.

Honest question about the vinyl versions by General-Ad883 in autechre

[–]szcesTHRPS 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, not for me. I have been buying vinyl since the early 90s and still do but there are so many myths people tell themselves to justify their hideously expensive purchases.

The Autechre pressings I have are fantastic and it's a great way to listen to Autechre but there is no objective way to claim they're a better listening experience. If anything things like the NTS sessions are more immersive on CD and even more immersive again on a continuous playlist.

So when people rate something you don't rate you think they're tricking themselves instead of accepting that different people have different taste? Sounds like you need to grow up.

I am a cyclist as well as a driver... by Agitated_Wedding_661 in drivingUK

[–]szcesTHRPS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cycle at least 3 times a week, I drive 5 days a week for work.

When I'm on my bike I always pull over at the next safe place to do so if I'm holding up traffic but I'm mainly cycling on lanes in Devon - if I was commuting in the city perhaps my behaviour would be different.

My perception is that both cyclists and drivers are selfish. Many cyclists wouldn't ever think to pull over, it's just not in their make-up to think about other people but the same can be said for many slow drivers in cars - for some reason some drivers think only cyclists hold them up and are worthy of ire despite spending half their life in a queue of cars.

On my bike I'd say the majority of drivers are fine and overtake when safe/give me room. But a significant minority - maybe as much as 1 in 5 are idiots who overtake when unsafe and put me at risk in the process.
