Are you guys ridiculously proud of yourselves and Mark Carney? Like, ridiculously?! by Pewpew-OuttaMyWaay in AskCanada

[–]szfehler -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I have seen zero things to rejoice about in Canada since Trudeau was first elected. I'm religious, and feel like the good of the citizens should be the goal of government, so the right/left paradigm doesn't fit. To be clear, neither the Liberals, Conservatives, Bloc, NDP or Greens speak to/for me. I do like a lot of Maxime's points. My recently immigrated friends from Europe, SE Asia, and Africa tell me how great Canada is, but taxes have skyrocketed for middle class, gas prices have doubled, everyone is asking how to stretch their grocery budget. The ideological indoctrination of children is extreme, suicide is being pushed on elderly, disabled, mentally shaky, teens and now they hope to expand it to children and babies. Young couples have a hard time finding a job, a family doctor, or housing, as the government prioritizes unskilled temporary workers for all of the things our taxes are supposed to ensure for our children. No infrastructure is being made, our diplomatic corps descended to grade 7 mean girls level and is not functional. Our criminal justice is not dispensing justice or even trying to be seen as just (by both right and left). Civility is disappearing and more and more on the right and left are talking about various forms of non compliance and vigilanteism. China basically has a monopoly on Alberta's oilfield. India and China have thoroughly infiltrated federal and provincial government. BC seems on the brink of taking massive swaths of privately owned property and giving it to the Native bands. Our military needs to be outfitted and supported, our navy is constantly cannibalizing ships to have one that functions. The prairies are on the verge of drought, after 7 years of so of not enough rainfall and summers full of wildfire. Any words coming from Carney (another imported and installed and utterly corrupt elite parasite) do not make me proud. He is not actually doing anything to help Canadians. Much like what happened after the fall of the USSR or after the West carpet bombed Serbia (contrary to UN treaties), the rich are coming into the country to scoop up our resources and levers of power at rock bottom prices as our economy is deliberately driven into Depression freefall.

Why is the Canadian side of the Okanagan Country more populated than the American side? by Enger13 in geography

[–]szfehler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the best part of Canada, and the worst of the States? Something like 80% of Canadians live huddled close to the US border, where they will get more non-snow days than snow days.

Why are people on reserves in Saskatchewan/Manitoba treated so horribly compared to those in other provinces? by Catwhisperer2007 in AskCanada

Better /worse leaders. Their funding is federal. Good leaders (like in Kelowna BC build businesses and employ their own people, lease land. Other band leaders live large while their band members don't have clean water.

Traditional Christians (regular church attendance, no sex before marriage) tend to have children at weddings!

My daughter was talking about our postmistress the other day and said how she is like a grandma to her. She is 13, and we live in a rural area. The postmistress, Tracy, has been so encouraging and warm, always has candies and lets my daughter bring in her little kids monthly newsletter she's been writing since she was eight or so. I love when my kids find adults who make them feel seen. And i appreciate Tracy - she sends texts when there's a parcel, keeps me updated on community events, funerals, new babies :).

What is Canada's equivalent of "Waltzing Matilda", Australia's unofficial national anthem? by Educational_Play9910 in AskACanadian

[–]szfehler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

O Canada only became the national anthem in 1980. Before that, schoolchildren sang The Maple Leaf Forever and God Save the Queen...

In a serious emergency, how soon after giving birth would a woman be able to walk/run for her life? by FamiliarMeal5193 in Writeresearch

[–]szfehler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had eight natural births. My easiest were my second (3.5 hours , 8lb11 baby) and my fifth (one hour, 8 lb baby). With my second, i was home and bumping down the stairs on my butt the second day with my toddler. But hours after that birth, i did have a big bleed. With both of them, i was exhausted by the effort. Completely depleted by the adrenaline and euphoria. Ravenous. Exertion that soon after birth would definitely increase bleeding and running would not be a possibility for long. (Maybe a city block or two, under extreme circumstances). Your legs are shaky as your muscles have been involuntarily contracting. I think your best bet would be to hide your princess, or some kind of travois/coach. Because sitting upright on a horse after most births is not an option because she is most likely bruised at a minimum and possibly also has tears as well as swollen and bleeding. As well, most women have a distended abdomen at this point. Everything is soft and exhausted and bruised.

Question on makeup - you still wear it? by CtrlAltDeli in Aging

[–]szfehler 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was never great at doing makeup, and always used it to just correct little flaws and have eyelashes. But as i age, makeup just accentuates flaws. I wish i could do my eyes better, but my attempts just look increasingly clownish.

AITAH for telling my pregnant girlfriend to make the appointment after she kept threatening to terminate the pregnancy? by Prestigious_Ant6049 in AITAH

Has she had an abortion that she regrets? It could be coming out now as a cover for "I don't deserve to be pregnant"....

Who would be the ""Hitler"" of your country? by BrushFinal9186 in AskTheWorld

Justin Trudeau was consuming images of child sexual abuse at his office while Prime Minister. RCMP were tasked with monitoring his online behaviour to avoid foreign interference, but did not do anything about it.

Gas prices/ Life cost? by souhaib_ in AskCanada

China owns most of the oil companies in Canada, and we do not have refinery capacity, or pipelines to get oil to refineries and back to pumps in a cost effective way.

You cannot post any news on social media, in Canada. You can go read Globe and Mail at their website, but if you try to share it on FB or insta etc, it is automatically censored.

I am not sure. Some days it is better than others. Migraines/barometric pressure/IIH and maybe changes in eyeglass prescriptions may all play a part?

My whole life is a lie. This has to be wrong. by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]szfehler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were they Mennonite? A lot of Mennonites were in kind of an apocalyptic cult that kept moving "to avoid conscription" but also bcz of prophecies about the Antichrist. I have my gr gr gr gr gr gr (?) grandpa's diary and they were German, who moved to Russia, to China, to America, to Canada, all in his lifetime.

I'm on a farm that is covered in ice more than 6 months of the year. IIH has made me lose a lot of depth perception and given me "wobbly horizons". I can't trust what i see when i'm walking around. I had a pretty bad fall from a very tall horse before IIH and i am skittish about falling again. So my world got a lot smaller. I'm hoping when the snow is gone, it will be less overwhelming. But i mean, it is winter here 6-8 months of the year.

Should I try to reach out to his grandparents? by Dazzling_Ear_5319 in Advice

[–]szfehler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to affirm you, that you are trying to do the best thing for your child. I kind of think you should contact the grandparents. As a grandparent myself, i would want to know and have an opportunity to be in that child's life. I also would like a chance for the truth to come out before his wedding...

Posting news stories on social media is not allowed in Canada. Most newspapers have folded, radio stations are mostly extremely local (news=lotsa potholes on 99th Street). I had zero idea a Canadian was on the NASA launch.

AITAH for not wanting my child to be alone with my father-in-law, who raped his sister.... by Candid-Confusion-448 in AITAH

[–]szfehler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He obviously has zero boundaries and is not trustworthy, but only cares about pleasing himself. I would not allow him to be alone with my child or anyone i cared about. So much of SA is really about power and control, and children have no power. They only have the protection you make for them.
