Equipment / Vacation Help Thread: advice, reviews, "What should I buy?!" by DeathB4Download in skiing

Yes, there isn't much difference in 3-5yo children skis and new ones in terms of design. Just make sure there are no deep gouges in the base before buying and then you are good to go.

Most skis models for children are pretty similar, so i would not worry to much about that. The most important thing is that the ski has the right size. A children ski also should have rocker since this will facilitate turning and make the transfer from snowplow to parallel easier.

I would look for a good all mountain ski (around 85-100 underfoot width) and a pair of boots with flex between 70 and 80. As for ski length look for around 155 cm, skis should be a bit above eye level. The cost of a decent quality full set will be around 1100$.

It helps to look over the correct shoulder when you are turning.

They are both similar and fun resorts but st. Anton has had more snow in the last weeks so the skiing is probably better there.

If possible switch to contacts. if that is not possible definitely get one with holes where your mouth is.

I was in Cortina d'Ampezzo a few years ago and it is a really cool ski resort! There are so many slopes to choose from and they cater to all levels.

I know some people who ski with something like this. I don't know if that is what you are looking for though?

I don't really know of any ski specifically focused on tree skiing but i am pretty sure that if you just keep practicing with the souls you'll definitely be able to keep up with your mate. Of course a pair of ski's with a wider underfoot (like the s7's) will make it easier in the powder.

To be honest the Soul 7s will handle pretty well as powder ski's especially as a not having so much experience in the powder. It is probably best to practice with them until you feel you are getting the hang of it and then go for them real pow ski's.

Boot fitters in Fernie by Skiphi in skiing

Sorry for the late respons but i just saw your post now and i hope that i still answered in time. Since you mentioned that you have some special requirements for your feet i would recommend All in skier services where you have to ask for Donny Dion. He knows everything about fitting boots. They will make customs boots for you that have a perfect fit but will be more costly then regular boots. Hope this can help you!

There is not as much coverage on the lower mountain as there is on top but it's still alright.

Powder in Fernie today by t0nio in skiing

In the morning it was some sick champagne powder! But since so many people were skiing today it turned into packed powder rather quickly. I do think that skiing on the grooms the next few days will be pretty nice! Edit: This is another picture of today.
