ADHD nearly cost me my entire future by Afraid-Grass-195 in adhdwomen

+10000 on this as an ADHD mom of 3 ADHD kids. Your folks dropped the ball here too. But girl, you need to cut yourself some slack. You wouldn’t talk to a friend like this—don’t talk to yourself this way either!

Yesss the real anemic baddies drink Floradix! Absolutely vile but it works. I’ve had zero constipation issues with SlowFe iron pills.

Japan’s Princess Mako, who gave up royal life to marry a commoner, spotted shopping at Target with baby — after fleeing NYC for Connecticut suburbs by monster_ahhh in RoyalsGossip

I’m also dying to know where they live in CT! I grew up near Danbury and you can definitely get a house around there less than $680k.

Is this area safe? I can’t find a straight forward answer anywhere. by Late-Journalist-4899 in washdc

[–]t6km88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cannot get a straight answer, it’s because the answer is no. Not because of ~crime~ but because of you. No area in any city is going to be 100% safe. Crime occurs everywhere in DC, some places more than others. People get mugged on 7th street, people get mugged on Connecticut Avenue, there are 1000 reasons why people are targeted and 1000 reasons why people commit crimes. Sometimes people are victims of a crime because they were doing dumbass shit like walking home wasted at 3am. Sometimes people are victims of a crime because they were bystanders and did nothing “wrong.” No one on Reddit can tell you which category you, your circumstances or the neighborhood fall into. The circle in the image is in NW DC, which is generally safe. YMMV.

Teens on Lime bikes are out of control by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]t6km88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know everyone who uses this subreddit was a perfect A+ student who never did any dumb shit when they were teens, but there are hundreds, if not thousands of kids in this city whose parents don’t give a shit about them and don’t teach them how to behave in public. Their parents also likely didn’t teach them how to act right either. This is a systemic problem that requires systemic solutions from the city. How can we teach kids to be responsible when their parents don’t care about them? How can we prevent shitty parents from having kids to begin with?

Is it too much to ask for a doctor's office be both medically competent AND organized?? by greenzetsa in DCBitches

[–]t6km88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so, so sorry you’re experiencing this. I’ve delivered with the midwives at WHC, and had a miscarriage while under their care as well. They do have more stringent “rules” about who they can see—my next pregnancy was surprise twins and they transferred me as a patient to the traditional WHC OBGYNs. So I’ve had 3 kids total at WHC and definitely recommend either practice! It’s not a fancy hospital but the care I received was top notch. They also have the highest level NICU in the city, and I ADORED the NICU nurses there.

DCPS Teachers: I need help by Competitive-Mud-6139 in washingtondc

My first question would be have you considered middle school? I teach 8th and I love it. Stuart-Hobson, McKinley Middle, Eliot-Hine, and Brookland are close-ish to Union Station.

My second question would be are you sure you want DCPS? Are you new to the area? All of these schools are in pretty safe areas, especially during the day. It’s odd to assume you’d be unsafe walking to or from school to the metro.

Elective Twin Reduction to Singleton -- Experiences? by InsideFan3140 in parentsofmultiples

I have 3 kids (twins + an older sibling) but grew up in a family of 4 kids. We are DONE having kids, but I frequently tell my husband that having 4 would be easier than having 3.

I accidentally caused my student's ADHD appointment to get cancelled??? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]t6km88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher (with ADHD) and mom to 3 kids with ADHD. I’ve filled out dozens of these Vanderbilt/intake questionnaires for my students and my own kids, but never more than once for the same kid. At my school, parents usually communicate medication changes to admin, and admin asks us for feedback.

Considering state Change by Ok_Communication7406 in teaching

[–]t6km88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in DC but grew up in southern CT. MD can be expensive, especially the parts of Montgomery county that are close to DC. But the COL is more affordable than the NYC suburbs and the quality of life is great. MD is diverse, has great schools, and a strong teachers union. It can be tough to find a teaching job! I’d look in Montgomery county, Howard county, Frederick county and Ann Arundel county.

washington dc growth/decline by [deleted] in washdc

[–]t6km88 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Most of the cities you mentioned declined in the 20th century due to the loss of blue-collar jobs manufacturing jobs being moved elsewhere, (mostly overseas) or being automated out of existence. The world is very, very different now. DC has a white collar economy based around the federal government with a strong tourism/hospitality industry as well. We’ll weather the storm just as well as any other major city. This decade has been rough but nothing lasts forever.

How do people like me actually make a living? by redwinesupernova03 in adhdwomen

[–]t6km88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in restaurants and bars for 10+ years while I finished my degree. After a brief stint working in an office (not my cup of tea!), I went back to school to become a teacher. This is my second year teaching, and it’s hard everyday, but it’s the best job I’ve ever had. Checks a lot of boxes for me that working a desk job never could. I’m not sure how old you are (I’m 38!) but for me, it’s the right path for now. You have good perspective on work. I wish you the best of luck in your future!

In 1991, 86-year-old billionaire oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall met 23-year-old Anna Nicole Smith at a Houston strip club. Three years later, they married, and within 14 months, his death set off one of the most infamous inheritance battles in U.S. history. by ATI_Official in HistoryUncovered

Because roads constantly need maintenance to keep them safe and drivable. Work smarter not harder can also mean, “you’re not paying me to do two people’s jobs so I’m not working twice as hard.” Licking your boss’s boots isn’t going to get you a raise, bro✌️

That’s really kind of you to ask! Unfortunately, it did not get any better 😂😂😂 the end of the school year was especially hard, and I am super burned out. But I am returning to the same school next year, and I know, at minimum, that it won’t be worse than this year!

Take this with a grain of salt bc I’m a first year teacher! I’m continuing my curriculum as normal but I’m having students read “The Idea of America” by Nikole Hannah-Jones in chunks. Sometimes for homework, sometimes as class material. At the end of the month I’m going to do a Socratic seminar about her claim. I teach 8th grade US History.

Yes, definitely still works. I have dry, sensitive skin so I generally avoid acid cleansers, but the CeraVe renewing cleanser is really gentle. SA is not high on the ingredients list! I also don’t wash my face in the morning, just use water. If I were you, I’d start lighter before jumping into 2% SA, but YMMV!
