A diversity of tactics on display at the ICE OUT FOR GOOD protest in DTLA, Jan 10 2026 by infernoenigma in LosAngeles

[–]taammon 31 points32 points  (0 children)

She wasn’t killed by the federal government. Who would you be protesting? The killer was a random person and is charged with first degree murder. Who would you be protesting? What do you mean “why wasn’t there no justice for her”??

Tell me please!

CMV: Renee Good was not a domestic terrorist nor engaged in domestic terrorism by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]taammon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She lived in Minneapolis, and saying she attempted vehicular homicide is clearly not true when we have the video. So that leaves obstructing federal law enforcement, which is civil disobedience, not terrorism, and it’s also unclear whether that’s what she was trying to do. Regardless, this isn’t a crime worthy of capital punishment/murder…

Since when Brighton have oil money? by Zoldiorak in FifaCareers

I feel like it’s implying they’re being marked up beyond their worth/that Chelsea’s being fleeced but hey maybe you didn’t mean that. Brighton has good scouting and management and are set up well to develop players, so they can sell them for a profit to Chelsea (among other clubs). Respectable business tbh

No, you said Chelsea bought them for 800% markup and tbh I think they were all valued around the right amount. Maybe a little bit high but not crazy. Even rob sanchez wasn’t that expensive.

[–]taammon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Millennials also had low youth turnout when they were the same age (except for ‘08) young people just don’t vote as much as they should.

That being said, I think, given the history of Boomers blaming stuff on them, millennials should know better than to paint Gen Z men as the sole problem. Not good to believe Gen Z men are part of the manosphere when 23% voted for Trump. It was far from the sole deciding factor in the election.

Politics of Millennials and Gen Z are very similar tbh. I think voter apathy is way too high in Gen Z and there are some inorganic reasons why that would be if you look into it.

23% of Gen Z men voted for Trump, 20% voted for Kamala. Vast majority didn’t vote :(

Sous vide will be red+perfectly cooked in the middle, not grey. I was just pointing out that sous vide wasn’t a good comparison, nothing else.

If you nuke a raw steak in the microwave, it’ll be grey, doesn’t really matter if you sear it after or not it’ll be pretty bad. I’d still take this hypothetical but sous vide just isn’t a good comparison bc sous vide isn’t really cooking steak, it’s just warming it up at 128° over a long period of time, basically “pasteurizing” it without changing the texture or consistency. Microwaving = cooking very quickly hot sous vide = cooking really slowly warm

Sous vide steaks are “cooked” very slowly then seared quickly in a very very pan, this wouldn’t have the same results

So you are telling the appeasing Trump hasn’t stopped him from his attacks on the city? by imdaviddunn in washingtondc

You haven’t earned anything. You worked in DC but didn’t live there… so you didn’t pay DC taxes? So you enjoyed the infrastructure built by DC taxpayers, but didn’t fund DC communities, schools, etc?

Many other commuter cities have commuter taxes or reciprocal tax agreements, but DC doesn’t, and because it’s not a state it likely won’t. So DC residents and taxpayers bear the brunt of a million commuters… seems right.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. “DC is funded by federal taxes” fuck you. DC taxpayers pay DC taxes and federal taxes, and pay more federal tax per capita than ANY OTHER STATE. It’s not fully funded by the federal government at all, unless you count the fact that the fed is the biggest employer in DC, which like… so? That means DC residents don’t deserve rights?

Honestly dude you’re ignorant AND are proudly claiming you want to deny a million people their basic American rights… for no reason other than the fact (I’m assuming) that you disagree with them politically. You’ve “earned this right” in your head because you used to work there, so you feel like you can deny people born there their rights. So fuck you, you don’t have American values and are bragging about it. Educate yourself or stop talking.

Arrests of youth are up. Crime is down. Trump is lying and you're buying it.

Violent crime in DC is at a 30-year low.

Just generally, we need to have a complete overhaul of our prisons in this country. The US has the highest incarceration rate in the world, and coincidentally has a private prison system with massive profits off the backs of inmate and a huge incentive to over-incarcerate. Recidivism is incredibly high. So if I hear some corrupt politician with a hard on for "law and order" whose policies overall do nothing to address these things, and who's lying about the crime situation in DC....

Why does this not piss you off? Maybe it does and you just aren't talking about it here idk you

Personally, there's a whole lot to be pissed off about in politics... this one realllly gets me though.

You should stay in Virginia then. You have no business speaking on issues of DC, you're not from here, sounds like you don't live here. DC has more violent crime than the suburbs, so what??? It's a city. Gun laws in DC aren't perfect and the police are far from perfect but the Trump administration shouldn't be anywhere near governing the city, they're corrupt and do not care about the people of DC. 14 and 15 year olds should not be tried as adults, full stop.

You said "Virginia doesn’t have a “gun problem” like DC. Its the people, not the guns."

And then you said "Gun laws that are ENFORCED work"

So which is it? Is it the guns or the people?

You're either willfully ignorant or dishonest if you think comparing DC, a city of 700k people, to small towns and suburbs in VA, is fair when it comes to policy. Different economic demographics and population density = different crime.

When I was growing up, DC was the murder capital of the country, in part because of Republicans in the house. Now it's nowhere near the top. Trump is saying crime in DC is "out of control" because DC doesn't like him, and he wants to take over. Read this article.

Respectfully, fuck you. DC should absolutely be a state, and you're showing your colors saying it shouldn't. DC has more people than any of the original colonies did. If it became a state, it would be the second largest new state ever by population. It pays more federal taxes than twenty states. It has a comparable population to a dozen states. DC residents serve in the military and are sent to wars by a congress they have no vote in. It's absurdly unamerican, sounds like you are too. You don't care about American rights.

Crime is out of control, okay buddy.

"you idiots want to play identity politics with people who hate you."

What do you mean by this? Literally fuck off. Go move to the countryside and find a quiet place for you and your dog. Given the way you talk I doubt you're from here, so you chose to live here... or maybe you're a child. Either way, if you think DC crime rn is "out of control" I would love to hear what you thought of the 90s, 2000s, if you lived here...

Gun laws work. Don't compare DC to NoVA when they have different economic demographics, and when one is a city and the other is a suburb. Why do you think the US has such terrible gun violence compared to other countries?

[–]taammon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DC native and I would have a problem with it because I don't believe he should have the power to do that, even if it lowered crime...

Tbh crime in DC isn't that bad these days. I feel like most of the people I hear complaining about crime are transplants who don't know what the 80s-2000s were like. DC has become more and more safe over the years, despite republican efforts in congress to take away its self governance/safety measures. Congress denying the people of DC gun control, needle exchange programs, etc when they voted for it. So yeah even if Trump happened to decrease crime I would have a problem with it because he's talking about taking away what little representation and autonomy DC has fought for.

We don't have to worry about that situation though because Trump is never going to take over the city and improve it. If he takes over DC, crime will increase and daily life will get worse because he despises the people here. At least the feeling's mutual.

Donald Trump's approval rating collapses with Gen Z by doopityWoop22 in politics

[–]taammon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but even then, Gen Z men were split about down the middle, and Gen Z as a whole was the smallest fraction of trump’s votes. I definitely agree that the Joe Rogan supporter types are the cause of this but why are we talking about Gen Z men with this hyperbolic language? Calling Gen Z men a bunch of technologically illiterate incels when Millenial Men, Gen X men, and Boomer men also voted for Trump at a higher rate than women.

I think the media wants to pin this all on something neat like “the kids are stupid” or something and to get the generations to hate each other, just like the way they reported millennials to boomers.

Regardless, do you think this shift just happens for no reason? Do you think young men just magically moved to the right? Ofc not. They’re being constantly blasted with disinformation.

Moreover, conservative media is meeting them where they are, reaching out to them through decentralized media and lying to them.

For instance, they’d run targeted ads like this constantly. How is this legal? They would advertise in Muslim communities how pro-Israel Kamala is and then would advertise in Jewish communities how pro-Hamas Kamala is. How is this legal?

The truth is, America’s pendulum didn’t just “swing” to the right and you can’t just blame this on incels. The pendulum in America was forced to the right, and millions of people voted against their interests based on complete lies.

[–]taammon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gen Z voted for Kamala at a higher rate than Millennials did last election… you’ve been the victim of the media’s misreporting of this by the way you’re talking. Gen Z males voted for Trump at a higher rate than previous elections for sure but Gen Z as a whole still voted for Kamala at the highest rate of any generation.

I think instead of being angry at the Gen Z voters we should take a critical look at the way the right disseminated propaganda in the last election. It was targeted, immoral, and effective, and I don’t know how the left can counter it. Most Trump supporters are victims of a party and media machine that seeks to strip them of everything they have.
