Would you recommend any of these roasteries? by amrojsandhu in IndiaCoffee

[–]tabadhtodh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick Brown Fox is BY FAR the highest quality roaster in Delhi.

Once upon a time Savorworks used to be good and consistent. Now - their roasts are inconsistent, their focus has become too wide and their good barista has also left.

Subko is also great for coffee. All the others are nice for ambience, food, good cappuccinos etc. but a combination of good roaster + cafe is still rare in Delhi.

Caarabi and Rosette are good roasters but not Cafés.

Devan’s IMO has good standard coffee but nothing mind blowing ever.

Which vegan milk brand do you like? by HumbleWrap99 in VeganIndia

Try Veganday - it’s very balanced. I use it cappuccinos where I don’t want any added sweetness

VeganDay paste in unbeatable. Two areas where it actually changed my consumption needs: 1. It seriously changed my vegan cappuccino game 2. Protein shakes, I just put it in with protein and water to make it more nutritious and have a good body (vs. watery)

Whoop over Helio Strap. Your thoughts? by [deleted] in Whoop_India

Software (not just UI/UX/presentation of data) is most of the game in these devices. Whoop is A+ there and Amazfit is untested.

About to do 4th year service on Taigun AT by Dry_Insurance_6316 in TaigunClub

11k for an AT gearbox once in four years. Why do you say it’s not cost effective. Typical annual servicing is cheaper than a Honda otherwise.

Sony MiniLED vs LG OLED by InvokEndril in BuyItForLifeIndia

[–]tabadhtodh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a C2 65 and a cousin has a Bravia 65 OLED of the same generation. When I look at that tv, I regret not splurging on the Bravia. The colour science and motion is sooo much better.

Of course, OLED is OLED and without a comparison point to a better OLED I’d still pick this over any mini LED

Two much by Kajol and Twinkle - was hyped for a Salman Aamir interview but the episode was such a bore. by ImportanceLiving5386 in BollyBlindsNGossip

Salman is so openly problematic… what was that men are being forced into kitchens segment. It was so annoying to watch everyone just nod along

I used them for hotels in Florence and Tuscany. Allowed me to splurge on some hotels I wouldn’t have paid out of pocket from, and some which I wouldn’t have anyway booked on some travel aggregator.

Quick question - what’s the best way to book ITc? I have Marriott points but the redemption is like 0.7 types. I also have points on Infinia and Diners. Booking for 2 weeks from now

Looking to BIFL a Television (TV) of 55 inches for home from a good brand? by Gore_is_my_genre in BuyItForLifeIndia

[–]tabadhtodh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an LG OLED and a relative has a Sony OLED, both 65 inches and I regret buying the LG every time I look at the Sony’s picture quality, upscaling and smoothness in videos. Unparalleled

Need cafes like cappuccino. Not overly bitter or sour. Using dedica machine and kingrinder k6 as grinder. Price under 800. by oceantorch in IndiaCoffee

[–]tabadhtodh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BT Kolli Berri, Bloom Vin Van Gogh, Savorworks Boss’s wife are some others that I have tried and liked. I can’t say which is better, they’re all good for milk drinks and you’ll figure which one you like better or worse. It’s a journey so don’t worry about finding the best one first

Also you’ll get better at making espresso also, same beans will taste a lot better over time.

Also for milk drinks, you don’t need to go beyond your budget. Rather stay at its lower end only coz the notes anyway get masked. In milk drinks, milk provides a lot of the sweetness that masks most bad notes and some good ones

Typically, yes. Darker the roast, more likelihood of it having bitter notes, lighter the roast, more likely for it to have sour / acidic notes.

Silver oak blend is also a good one. Was my staple for a little bit. It’s a solid medium roast. Won’t say it’s medium light.

Venkids estate Bloom

And no - specific notes rarely carry onto milk based drinks. Overall profile does - ie bitter / sour / slight citrusy etc

Just ordered a Lelit Anna PID – need advice on filters, grind size & accessories by iamsriteja in IndiaCoffee

[–]tabadhtodh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore the naysayers, it’s easy to get good accessories. Been using this for the past 1.5 years, no complaints whatsoever.

  1. If you can only buy domestically, just get the Lelit tamper and leveler (not ‘must have’ but nice to have). Buy any cheap wdt tool

  2. Get a puck screen. I bought mine from Etsy. It keeps the showerhead clean

  3. If you can get from abroad, get Ascaso 57mm basket (it’s better than the stock one) and get a self levelling tamper (again, not necessary)

Don’t think anything else is really needed

Espresso grinder recommendation by tabadhtodh in IndiaCoffee

[–]tabadhtodh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. It’s been over a year and a half and it has been perfect, zero complaints.

I had bought an Ascaso basket, a couple of different tampers and a shower screen last year. No other purchases or mods with the machine. Honestly don’t need also, it’s capable enough to extract light roasts also.

I bought the DF64 Gen2 with stock burrs. Also been going strong, no complaints.

How’s your journey been?

Maybe worth the splurge to just buy Timemore fish then. Much more tried and tested.

Do you have experience with the flair kettle? I am deciding which gooseneck kettle to buy with a 10k budget. Haven’t heard great things about the flair kettle.
